only if you missed that MTL drafted 2 D and 4 Center
ZERO Wingers in that draft because our need at D after cutting tied with Beaulieu ,Emelin and Markov .
MTL's need at Center has dominated the last 3 drafts but none more then the year we could have drafted Debrincat but would not have

CHI needed Wingers , it made sense for them
MTL had Radulov , Pacioretty , Gallagher , Byron and Chucky who were all Goal Scoring Wingers but no true Center prospects .
if by some bizzarre chance we did draft Debrincat he woulda been busted in our AHL system with Coach Lefebvre who busted 4 first round picks over 6 seasons before being removed .

Suzuki's more of a Marner style players (2nd/3rd Center or top line RW )
Poehlings more of a Jeff Carter type (big guy , smooth skating who can win bulk faceoffs and score big goals in bulk at a 2nd/3rd C role )

Caulfield and Kotkanemi comparisons are dead on the money though

I am shocked and extremely excited.

I have to admit...I was just tearing apart MB for drafting...and then I get put in my place. CC is the steal of the draft in my opinion. I don't agree with people that say he's just the product of the USNDT. He's the one putting the puck in the net. It's far easier to be the by product...when you're the 2nd assist. Are his teammates really good. For sure. Am I saying Hughes is a by product of Caufield....No freakin way. But CC deserves credit. congrats.

BUT I will say the comps of the #15 CC pick being Kane...#1 pick and #25 pick RP being Toews...#3 and Suzuki putting up 90+ points with Selke honors. These are a bit aggressive. I am happy for you guys though. Bright future!

CC's biggest question mark was is he going to be another american bust in the 1st round for us out of the US development program .

Cole has 1 big advantage over the rest though , his parents are Canadian so he plays like a Canadian not an American .
His Confidence and Swagger as MB put it all stem from him playing a team game . think of him like Gallagher in many ways as he is a battler with heart .

i wanted a D ,specifically York or Heinola but the 6'5 D we picked up is going to take maybe a year more to develop then either of the 2 i wanted so good on MB , very smart
