I agree. I am a buffalo fan. But that trade could be switch for players of similar value on different team. I just believe Nelson for zaitsev is fair value because of salary. Then sheary and tage for Johnsson. Then sabres eat reaves salary to even out.

Skinner signing for the length he got with NMC is crazy, so $10.75 for Marner seems close to 2019 crazy contract levels.

Agree that TOR and BUF can't make that big a trade with each other due to proximity / TV / geographic overlap.

An even cap deal is the way Marleau will be traded.

No Marleau is being moved to save cap space. He will either be retained till his value is even or be sent with a pick and/or prospect.

Vegas has no cap to take on Kap. I proposed a very similar 3 way trade. Leafs get Colin Miller + a mid pick from Vegas, Colorado gets Kap and Vegas gets Colorados 2019 1st.
Leafs get their DMAN + 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Colorado gets a winger for their 2nd line.
Vegas clears cap and gets a mid 1st rounder in this draft.
I think It works for all 3 teams.

As for that Buf trade. I agree, I don't see it happening.

When I make a post, I am more concerned with the value exchange to determine if I know the value of players.
As to the TML/BUF trade If I were Buffalo I would not make the deal primarily it adds nearly $10,000,000 to the cap (I am surprised that no one mentioned this)
Because Buffalo is eating the cap it makes Nelson equal to Zaitsev, with out the cap issues Zaitsev >> Nelson
Sheary + Thompson for Johnson I do not see as fair. Put Sheary with any of Matthews, Tavares or Marner and he will produce as Thompson (see his production in 2016-17) then we have to add Thompson (who if any of you TML fans watched the Calder playoffs know he was the best Amerk on the ice). Sheary has the speed to keep up with Kapanen, he has a good shot and will work hard in the dirty parts of the ice.
All of that, I would definitely do Nelson for Zaitsev, even if I had to add to get Nikita. Pair him with Dahlin and both with thrive.
