Is he a grinder or supposed to be offensively skilled? According to his KHL stats, I'm guessing grinder?

Yeah at #31 this looks... weak to say the least. Hope to the high heavens that he works well with Babcock's system and actually develops (or just becomes an AHL plugger)

I think he was chosen as a type of power forward... could be the next gauthier. Why we chiselers him over a Dman I don’t know. I know our scouts were very high on him.

He is big fast and can use his hands. Maybe the best comparison would be greenway. We will see what he has in the AHL next season.

Go for it. You shouldn't expect Elite NHL players when you draft 20-30 every year.

I hope you're wrong. Korshov, and the Leafs would be better not working in Babcock's system.smile Rather see Korshov working in the NHL under Keefe's system.

So, the rebuilding Habs traded two second rounders for Shaw.

You should still expect that player to become a full time NHL player. This guy will be lucky to be a good AHLer

I'd love to see Keefe finally replace Babs, I think he's a guy that would gel so much better with the current Leafs core.

2014 / 26th = Nikita Scherbak (lost to waivers)
2013 / 25th = Michael McCarron (career AHL player)
2013 / 34th = Jacob De La Rose (lost to waivers)
2013 / 36th = Zachary Fucale (never came close)
2012 / 33rd = Sebastian Collberg (never came close)
2011 / 17th = Nathan Beaulieu (traded for a 3rd)
2010 / 22nd = Jarred Tinordi (career AHL player)
2009 / 18th = Louis Leblanc (never came close)

Yet none of this stops you from peeking you head in to say the Leafs 31st pick in 2016 is terrible.

Maybe one day your 2015 pick Juulsen (26th) will be half as good as the Leafs pick Dermott (34th).

LMAO I'm embarrassed for you.

Habs seems to have cornered the market on good AHL players....Weise at 2.3m, Alzner at 4.6m

I would like to point out TML hasnt been really pearls in drafting from 2005-2014 also with two exceptions. Luckily we got back on track with 2015. Check facts here : https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/edit/848338

The comment wasn't supposed to be a comparison to Toronto's success.

It was more along the lines of ... "A Montreal fan is in no position to show up at other people's houses and throw stones"

De La Rose (4th line NHL Center). Good defensive Center.
McCarron (So far AHL player) was dubbed a project from the start. He was drafted from a need, not BPA. I still believe he has NHL position
Scherbak (still has all of the potential in the world. Lazy AF. Bad Pick)

You're right. Montreal hasn't been good at drafting from 2009-2014. If only it was still 2014

Juulsen is already better than Dermott. Imagine being a stanley cup favorite in a must win year only to go out in the 1st round. Even if Montreal doesn't draft good, atleast they proved they can win when it counts.

Yeah I can. This was a 2016 draft pick. What player drafted this early from 2016-2019 by Montreal has looked this bad?

When you narrow down any teams drafting to the exact subset you want ... they'll all look good.

But you still don't have many 2016 - 2018 draft picks that have been successful in the NHL do you? (besides your 3rd overall pick - who did not look as good as Tkachuk this year).

It's going to be hard to make up for your last decade of drafting.
