Description
Changes are coming in Toronto, and we are here to help!

Carolina gets Saad who they've been interested in for 2 years. That said, can add Forlsing instead or maybe even Ian Mitchell if Forsling or Dahlstrom is not enough.

BUF gets their choice of Podcozlin, Dach, Cozens or Byram. Hawks take Cole Caufield because Bowman likes small guys. I also am really liking this kid...he's lights out. Cole goes to Univ of Wisconsin...we're going to have to give him a year or 2 before he's ready, but watch out when he is!

From a Wild fan, Turcotte is a stud and he's going to be filling our net for years to come if Chicago takes him. I have him ranked as the second best center in the draft.

I think Caufield has potential to score more goals, but Turcotte will be the better overall player. Turcotte plays a very similar game to Crosby (with a lower ceiling obviously)

I think the Front Office done with the "local kid" thing. Vinnie, Schmaltz, and Hartman all got shipped out

Caufield is dynamic and a way more dangerous goal scorer. Caufield IMO is Debrincat with a bit more Kane in him. I like Turcotte a lot too, but Caufield is going to special.

Both are studs. Turcotte, I'm starting to prefer over Cozens, but my gut is saying Caufield. The kid skates like Kane....slippery player and a deadly shot.

I'm not sold on Cozens dynamic ability. He relies on using his body and speed to make plays which he won't be able to do nearly as much playing against grown men compared to teenagers. I still think he'll be good (and he certainly has the shot to give him the ability to score), I'm just not sure he'll be as effective at the NHL level. Just my 2 cents as an armchair scout.

Cozens size and speed are important. I agree but he will grow into his size and learn to use it at the next level. My question with him is his hockey IQ. Turcotte is dynamic and does almost everything better but he's not a big center which potentially limits him to a 2nd line or 3rd line role.

Dear god that Carolina trade is horrible for us. Anisimov + a pick should do it. People need to stop trading Saad.

It would require a 2nd rounder and AA to get DeHaan. Saad for DeHaan is a fair trade.

I disagree, but in any case, would that be worth it? Lose a top 6 forward with both offensive and defensive upside for a #4 defenseman when he can get him for other assets? Attempting to fill the top 6 void with Kapanen is a horrible idea, especially when that comes at the cost of our best defensive defenseman. This team may make the playoffs, but it wouldn't be going anywhere any time soon.

Carolina laugh this out of the building, Saad has been better.... when you give him People like Toews and Kane.... CdH makes Carolina's blue line special and is one of 2LD they have, they are not moving him.

Buffalo laugh you out of here.

Toronto reject

That BUF trade is indeed very interesting. (2) 1sts and a 2nd is what it would take to move from #8 to #3. This is supposed to be a deep draft...so it might be worth it. BUF also gets an elite player in it to go with Eichel/Dahlin. I'm not a big fan of trading Saad. I'd rather get a #4 Dman like Edler and even overy pay the guy for a 2 year deal. OR trade for McNabb since LVK needs cap assistance. There are ways to get a #4 Dman without giving up Saad. Also, I really don't think you'll need to include AA in that BUF trade. He can be useful to another team like NJ or CBJ if those rumors were ever true.

Clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about as Saad does not play on the line with Toews and Kane.

That's a remarkably bad defense you have there. It's worse than the blue line the Hawks had this past season and that was a horrible D corps(e). Gustafsson is not a top pairing guy. Gus should be on the 3rd pairing in a sheltered role where he's basically a PP specialist with limited minutes the rest of the game around 15 minutes average OR he should be traded because he value will never be higher.

Not sure what you're watching but Gus the last third of the season was much better defensively while producing offensively at a clip few can do in the NHL. Paired correctly, he is top line or 2nd liner all day. If you've watched him closely the last 2 years, he is getting better every 10 games or so, why with the arrow clearly pointing up are you going to limit him? The narrative you are speaking of was true the 1st half of the season, arguably the 2nd 3rd of the season but definitely not the last third of the season...advanced stats will support what I'm saying if you dive into them game by game.

De Haan is improvement over Murphy and the addition of jokiharju is an improvement over Murphy. Adding those two covers the losing murphy and then some while also limiting Seab's exposure so all in makes this defense better.

The other important factor in good defenses that most fans don't understand is a offensive front 4 lines that play good puck possession in addition to scoring. Again, looking at advanced stats, the Hawks scoring was okay but their puck possession numbers are dismal upfront which doesn't really need to be said but puts huge pressure on the defense. Adding Panarin will be huge along with the help of Eakin and Kap both who play a puck possession game. Hockey is a team sport and there is a rarely a bad defense that isn't partially a result of a offensive shortcomings.

"for some reason"...maybe because the Leafs need a RHD guy and can shed a forward or two which the Hawks need and the Hawks have a very deep pool of RHD guys; logical.
