Can’t. Don’t have the cap space for it. With CMac, Carlo, Heinen, Donato, JFK all RFAs and Chara, Acciari UFA’s it’s going to be tight as it is. Even if Chara retires.

Unless they find a way to dump Backes it would have to be Krug for Horny straight. Because Krug would be on his last year, Moore/Grizz/Urho/Lauzon on left side they might consider it. Depends how everything else plays out.

I'm a Bruins fan and I like Krug a lot, but how is the guy a top 2 defenseman? He gets his ass completely roasted against the other teams top forward line so much so that the coaching staff really only worries about one defensive matchup nightly. Anyone other than Krugs pair vs the top line. In the playoffs they opt to go for Chara against the top line of the opposition and sometimes like to get Krug out there against the bottom 6. He's just average defensively so I don't understand labeling him as a top 2 defender. If you need a powerplay QB and #3 defenseman to go against the other teams average lines than he's a great fit. He just can't play for crap against the other teams best players and thats what I personally think of when considering a top 2 player. I'm not meaning to talk his value down or anything because he's great at his role, it's just his ideal role isn't being on the top pair.

A top 2 LD, Dumoulin is that . He’s the perfect fit along Letangs side. Horny is the engine for the Penguins, they’re not moving him for one year of Krug.

Exactly! Chara is a beast defensively and his teams numbers are better with him than without him and he can still play great even though he's so old now. Krug though would be a pp offensive guy. While Pettersson and Johnson would be expected to be good defensively for Pittsburgh.

krug could play on a different line than dumo and letang then. Hornqvist isn't getting any younger and same goes for our prospects that we should finally start using, and if they're not ready then at least solidify the bottom two lines with either great defensive forwards or two way players

I like krug as a player but hes apower play specialist who regularly gets taken advantage of in his own zone. he isn't elite but he certainly has an offensive game that helps. I cant see pitts moving hornquist hes a glue guy they need that guy out there at the critical times.

Krug, letang and Schultz would all be redundant, offensive minded Dmen on different lines. No one does what horny does for this team, and as a pens fan I’m being realistic to our window being the Crosby and geno contracts, we need players to complement them. Krug is redundant to two of ou defensemen, you got rid of our best netfront presence and two other defensemen who are signed longer than Krug.
