Not a chance Chicago accepts that. Kerfoot is overpaid at $3.5M and the Hawks don't have a retention slot to give to him to move him for a 2nd at half retained (more realistic is a 3rd at half retained), nor should the onus be on the Hawks with the assumption it replaces a 2nd round pick from Toronto...that's simply not how it works.
Meanwhile, Toews is on pace for 24 goals and 45 points on a terrible team with not much talent around him on his line. If he plays next to Marner (or Nylander) and JT, he would be on pace for 30 goals and 65+ points. Now add in his pedigree and leadership. There is no way he doesn't get a late 1st or a 2nd and decent prospect in return if he waives and agrees to a few teams.
