Minor cranks
It's an interesting team. A couple of things:
* The proposed Miller to Pit trade was Miller for 2 1sts & expiring Jason Zucker. Lillegren isn't worth close to that. Van doesn't do that trade simply to open up cap space in a bad UFA year, Miller is worth more.
* You don't have to give up A 1st round pick, our 2nd best prospect, and a versatile player just to get rid of one year of Murray at that number.

Maple Leafing away
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>U can’t deny that this Leafs team above is a force to be reckoned with either, team looks so much scarier and that blue line is loaded</div></div>
It's an interesting team. Is Boeser's head in the game? Does Wilson stay healthy and be a force in the playoffs at an age that isn't friendly to players of his style? This is when Lucic and many other true power forwards started to fall off.
Tavares is absolutely not a #2 C anymore. ROR can't stay healthy and his issues will only get worse. That said, I love that you kept Nylander instead of Marner, and the D has potential. Defenseman very clearly do well or poorly partially because of their system. You see guys who are #6s in one system become top-pair in another. How good would Graves be in Toronto's system? It's definitely an interesting team.t

Maple Leafing away
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>Is it by a landslide or nah? I mean I feel like that’s a LOT for the Caps to give up, Marner is a fine player but with a $10.9m contract that’s a lot of cap to take on….</div></div>
You could see it happening because of the fact that Marner is such a great playmaker, and to put him with Ovie, who seemingly doesn't have a true playmaker anymore, would help Ovie break Gretzky's record.

2 of Core 4 gonzo
Soucy and Mayfield are both 3rd pair D, effective in limited roles with limited ice time against non-elite players. Schenn unlocked Rielly, playing the same role as you'd see players like Geoff Beukeboom play for Brian Leetch in the 90s. There's no reason to walk away from that <strong>and</strong> pay more for a replacement.
In the regular season, analytics had TJ Brodie as the 9th best defensive defenseman in the entire NHL. Trading him for a 3rd or 4th liner (depending on the day) because Brodie was likely hurt in the playoffs will not happen.
With all respect, the Winnipeg trade would be disastrous. At least we'd get Ehlers, still though.

JT waives his NTC
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boltsbeathabs</b></div><div>What part of "I want to be here." Makes you think he waIves not his NTC but his NMC. The only thing they can do without his permission is buy him out. That however is the dumbest thing Toronto can do. The less than 700k cap saving doesn't even allow them to replace him with a league minimum contract</div></div>
Regardless of any of this, Toronto is allowed to ask. If they deem that it's the best move for them, Leafs management would be negligent in their duties if they did not ask. And if JT says no, they carry on. What is difficult to imagine is that, if JT said yes, Toronto would not do the right thing by him (as trading him to a non-contending team would indeed not be doing the right thing by their Captain and a consummate professional).

Toronto isn't downgrading from their most clutch forward to a one-dimensional mess of a hockey player.

Matthew stays
This isn't an awful team. Your price is bang-on for Schenn, as he will not hit $1.5-2M as others are signing him for.
You won't have to pay as much for Bjugstad or Wood. Especially Wood, as he will be a reclamation project. You're right to target him, he's the kind of low cost, high upside signing that Dubas loves to make
Your salary is right on Orlov, though even at 31, with his skill level he'll get more than 3 years at that number. If you were the GM and that's as far as you'd go though, respect.

What is happening
He's okay, a solid 4th liner. Lots of speed, like tons. Not much in the way of hands. Some games he's effective, some games he's invisible. Solid defensively. He'd be an upgrade on Florida's 4th line depth. One of those players who, you see the skillset and you think there's more there than what he delivers.

Ignore the loud and vocal minority. Yours is a solid premise. It's a lateral move for FLA though, as it doesn't solve their need for an elite shutdown D.

I feel like you hate the Leafs. Non-fans making deals that wreck Toronto, probably not how CF meant for the site to work but hey, whatever brings one joy!

Backstrom and Wilson are back tomorrow officially
If Backstrom is 80% of what he used to be coming off a hip replacement, and Carlson comes back in due time, this is a surprisingly dangerous team all of a sudden.

Imagine if the league and PA could compromise
Okposo has a better chance next year with Buffalo than Toronto? Come on now, Buffalo needs a #1 goalie and then has to make the playoffs first before that could be a thought. You'd have been better off to say that KO could go to TB, Colorado, etc.

Not what I hoped for
He's a backup and next year a UFA on a non-playoff team. Goalies do not have a high acquisition cost. Stolarz is not worth a 2nd with only one year left on the contract.

Return of the big bad Bruins
There's a couple of things in here that likely would require more from the B's (Wilson, JT Miller). That said, amazing template here, this would be a ridiculous team to see iced. Love your creativity here, well done!

Before a bunch of people come in and tell you why this won't happen (ugh), this is very interesting and creative. Love the Couturier angle and it's a fair deal, and if Fleury can stay young at that age like Roy did and Hamilton can benefit from Muzzin then this is a deadly team.

The Tkachuk Reformation
1. You don't know.
2. Tkachuk is about to cost $9M, so getting a perceived top-10 NHL player for $1M more allows Calgary both cap certainty and the ability to move Gaudreau for an LW (who costs less). It also changes the room, which Calgary needs.
3. Engvall is indeed worth a 5th. However, Tkachuk is not worth Marner, and the cap difference isn't enough to offset that. Maybe Toronto has to throw in a 3rd, but otherwise it's reasonable.
4. Unless you're family, you don't know. Money talks, and Montreal may not want to spend that much money on a guy who should be the 3rd line C.

Offer sheet
Regardless of whether or not it makes the 'Canes match, this is a well thought-out team, with cap room to spare no less. Also, if the 'Canes match that number there's a good chance they have to trade someone else or waste money on a buyout they didn't plan, so it's a shrewd move.
There's only ever negativity on these threads, so please know that what you did here is intelligent.
