I mean even that might be high, Laine hasn't reached 35+ goals or 65+ points in the last two seasons. I'm not saying he's a bad player at all, BUT, he's inconsistent and has been on a slight decline the last two seasons points wise. I think Winnipeg fans (I don't know if you are) over hype him a little too much. This coming from a person who lives in Winnipeg</div></div>
Laine had 63 points in 68 games before the stoppage which is a 75 point season in 82 games, so thats considered a decline now? lol
If anything Laine is under appreciated in Winnipeg and doesn't get enough hype, quite a dumb fan base to be honest, they loved Tanev but was ready to ship Laine out for whatever, didn't care much about the return, yeah that's a really knowledgeable hockey market... 😂

Agreed his numbers declined the last 2 years but was on pace for 35 goals this year and probably could have hit close to 40 had he not been injured. On top of that, if you watched him this year, you'd see that his defensive game grew immensely from previous seasons. He's developed in to an all around Power Forward.
As for Domi, i think he would be a nice get, but i think he is far more inconsistent with up and down seasons and Winnipeg would be better off filling that role from within or the draft. But i think i could be persuaded on him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>twodollarlobster</b></div><div>I see where you are going with the Eichel trade but I think it's a little low. Both Hughes and Zacha are unproven rookies. Zacha in particular i think has a low value right now. Hughes I still think is worth a decent amount but I would assume Buffalo would want a more proven roster player from the Devils (or any other team).
I don't watch either team so I may be off but just my thoughts.</div></div>
Zacha is not exactly a rookie. 266 nhl games over 5 seasons, he is just nothing special an average third line center. Agreed obviously this return is very low for Eichel and we likely can net a much larger return elsewhere

What about Chaisson and get rid of a third round pick?</div></div>
Tell you what. I’ll change one of the 3rds to the Dermott trade.

Yes. Sharks have big money tied up, adding Neal, even for a lotto pick maybe not enough.
However, I wonder if this sort of deal would would work with New Jersey. Hoards of cap space, a very young core in need of some leadership of some level, and beyond Gusev and Palmeiri (both of whom may leave after next year), wing positions that need filling.
Right idea? Wrong team?

The trouble is, if it ends up being flat cap and no CBO, there will be lots of teams wanting to dump cap. And not very many teams willing to take it.

Ok, that’s very fair. I was just trying to get him as cheep as I could without completely robbing you guys. And then Bouchard can fill in for Benning. That’s not bad..

Interesting... do you think we could just trade Puljujarvi and Benning for Roslovic?? And not the 3rd. It’s a good reasoning because we are getting a 3c, and they are getting a winger that could turn out, and a defence man that they need.

Yup, DeMelo will likely get in the $3M range. But there are decent veteran D that will be available for about $1.5M I think.

DeMelo is an interesting add don’t see often. Sheahan I would think would come in around 1.5-1.8 but got the cap to make up that little difference. I’m not really in favour of moving Russell personally I think he’s very useful for the team but I get the cap reasons. Jets trade I’m not a fan of seems a very high price only needing a placeholder for. McLeod isn’t that far off he impressed last camp wasn’t far from making team then.

Even if you give Drouin the same amount of games as Nurse, he only would have gotten 39 points this year. Now, I don't watch MTL so I don't know if this was a down year or something I'm missing but I wouldn't want to see this trade.</div></div>
Was having is best year at the beginning of the season with 15 points in 17 games but Ovechkin destroy him and he missed almost the entire season. He did come back injured at the end of the year, dont know why he played injured but now is 100% healthy if the playoffs restart in August

Glendening plays mostly in defensive situations. He is still fairly quick and he is very good in face offs.

Yeah fair enough. Wanted to trade him for this exercise to see how value stacks up. Glendending is fine, it was more cap to move out Russell and replace with a C - makes room for Jones / Bouchard too

Apparently Puljujarvi might give the oilers another try, we his exact words I think was “never say never”. I would like for him to come back also, because I think if we trade him he will turn out into a very good player that we missed on. Luke Glendening is ok, but not a 3c.

Yes. Depth is key, especially in the playoffs. It also gives them the option to run the 3 centres on different lines. Kapanen is a shooter mentality and a right shot. Something the Oilers don’t have. So yes I think a winger like Kap would fit this team well.

Yamamoto is young and still developing so keep him, Kapenen is an upgrade on Kassian, I'd say it's fair to say Kassian has benefited significantly from McD and Dria, Kapenen has comparable numbers playing with much lesser players in Kerfoot/Spezza, Kap has so many tools that Leafs haven't been able show case due to the Quality RW ahead of him in the depth chart. Putting Kap on a line with both or either McD or Dria will create fantastic production. He's fast, he can score, he forechecks, he penalty kills he checks so many boxes for the Oilers

I'm not sure Edmonton should accept a straight trade (although they probably would) let alone add a significant pick / prospect.</div></div>
I'm not sure you'll find a single hockey brain outside of Edmonton that agree's with your statement. Just to be clear, since you cherry picked the one stat that Pulji has over Roslo...Rolso has played 30+ less games and has 1 more career point. Pulji has barely shown he can play in the AHL while Roslo has shown he's probably lead that league in scoring in a full year. I don't think this is even close....another bad draft by the oilers...But hey, at least they didn't draft Juolevi...but probably should have taken Tkachuk or Keller.
