I believe the thinking of what to do with this team has completely changed. I think it's pretty evident the defense is back to playing the way they should. Also, we are getting solid goaltending. I'm not going to fall for the "Binnie is the elite goaltender we've been waiting for" crowd. I've seen to many young goalies come through here and look good and then falter (Allen, Johnson, etc.) But he is getting the job done, so let's hope it's not the usual case for the Blues. Sooner or later you have to hit on one right?

Point being, i think your strategy at the deadline has changed. I think it's pretty evident this team still needs "finishers." At least once, maybe twice, per game we always seem to miss a side open net or a great chance ( see Schenn, Barbie on 2 on 1, and the 3 on 1 and 2 on 1 we had in OT and didnt even get a shot). Obviously Perron will help when he comes back, but it would be nice to have another finisher (is 2 wishful thinking?). Stone would be that and then some. Plus the PP is weak, need a guy who can help as well there.

It will be interesting to see what happens. I would think the trading of Petro and Schenn would be a little less likely now, but you never know. The Blues have shown interest in Dougie Hamilton for awhile now. He would also help the PP, but i dont think you make that trade unless you trade another Dman. Ottawa wanted Fabbri before, i would assume there would still be interest in him now. Maybe he would be in a deal for Stone if it would go down.

Sujet: Bobrovsky
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Larkinisking</b></div><div>St Louis is barely treading water right now, Bobrovsky would be foolish to waive his NMC to go there. Even with Bob St Louis would face a 1st round exit. Bob if dealt should be traded to a team that he can help win a cup. And that's definitely not St Louis.</div></div>

Lebrun reported that Bob would want to come to STL already. I do believe the Blues would be willing to pay Bob what it takes. As someone said, they have had a problem with Goaltending for YEARS! If they can find someone that can provide the solution, I think they would do it. As far as Schwartz... We love him here... but the dude just cant stay healthy and isnt producing at all this year. I will say we are pretty weak at LW.... the young guys you speak about are mostly RW. BUT I think you would have to seriously consider giving up schwartz to do this.. you can always move Perron to LW if need be.

As far as the Blues treading water.... they have been playing MUCH better since Mid-Dec..... but we just havent had the goaltending. Binnie comes in and has provided good consistent play and he is 5-1-1. SO I think that tells you all you need to know. Blues have Jaybo and his $5.4 coming off.... if you trade Schwartz thats another $5m+... would have to find someone to take Allen and his $4m+ (prob have to retain some there). I would hope a team like Flyers (who have been reported to have interest) might find him useful to share the load with a young guy for a couple of years until he is ready to take over.

I really think Allen is the epitome of a guy who needs a change of scenery. The dude is one of the best goalies on the road, but sucks at home. I think he is a good goalie....not great, but can play elite (remember statistically he was the best the second half when Yeo took over), he isnt as mentally tough as one would like. But I think a change of scenery would do him wonders.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BluesGetTheCup</b></div><div>No on the Carolina trade. Also quick note, Dunn hasn't regressed. Not sure why people think he has. He might make some boneheaded plays sure, but he's our best offensive defenseman. Not sure why the Leafs give up Gardiner cause he's a rental (or why we get him) and moving Kyrou for Bob is a non starter.</div></div>

Completely agree with the Dunn statement. I just read something where the analytics show that Dunn has actually improved a little over last year. Yes bonehead and lazy plays, but overall better. Another reason I chose Edmundson. I get the Carolina trade as well, i did say it may be a little of an over payment. But as <a href="/users/BeastModeUnknown" target="_blank">@BeastModeUnknown</a> says, maybe concentrate just on Hamilton and do Schenn+

The Gardiner thing... that's a matter of opinion. Right now it's no secret we are weak at LD. I like Dunn, but Edmundson I'm not to sure about, your probably losing Jaybo and gunnar. Small possibility on bringing Gunnar back on a very short term deal, but regardless we need some depth. Why would Toronto get rid of him? They may not be able to resign him with their cap situation. Why would we take him? See the need for depth on the left side, of course I would hope for an extension.

Bobrosky. I get this one would be a hot topic because of Kyrou. To each their own on the goalie situation. Some people want to dump Allen and just ride Binnie. Some want to dump Allen and replace with another "middle of the road" goalie. Some want to bring in a veteran to play a couple year to give time for Binnie and Husso (maybe even Fitzpatrick) to develop and see what they can do. My opinion - if you can get an elite goalie when you've been searching for an answer in goal for.... well, forever.. then you do it. Again, giving up Kyrou would be if you re-sign him. If you dont, then you give less. IF you can get an elite goalie, you are going to have to give to get. The addition of Kapanen would soften the blow on this as well. I like Kyrou and I hope he turns out, but you cannot depend on your top prospects to develop into elite talent. We've been there and done that many times to. If there is one thing that is the Achilles heel of the Blues, it's goaltending. You have to have consistent goaltending in this league if you are going to win and we havent had it for years.

If no Bob, then i vote for bringing in a veteran to hold the fort while the youngsters develop and hope (the for the umpteenth time) that one of them turn out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>Couple of counters to this I don't think Montreal accepts. Bouwmeester might provide a little bit of talent they would rather try for Edmundson or Dunn. I love the Toronto trade. Bobrovsky not so much. We are giving up so much for a Half-Year Rental. I wouldn't give up Kyrou in that deal maybe a 3rd. I think you are overpaying for Hamilton. Schenn+ a little extra could get the job done. I think Edmundson and Fabbri and add in a pick and a smaller prospect. Not so sure Boston wants Blais knowing they have a lot of WIngers.</div></div>

To me, I think Jaybo is going to be traded for a 3rd to someone. I just picked Montreal cause they need D, but so do a lot of other teams.

Kyrou is ONLY given up if we can sign him, if not, then a lower prospect like Stevens. People have said Schmaltz, but I dont think his value is that high.

I was really thinking about the Hamilton deal.... Just figured Edmundson was expendable with Gardiner, Lauzon coming in. But I agree with you. Ferland was added to try and make it more even, plus he would add more depth.. if we are able to trade Steen this would be ideal. I think we all know Schenn is going to be traded.... just didnt think Schenn and a prospect was enough, but all for it if it does. If it is, you can still use Edmundson for trade bait somewhere else.

I really like the Lauzon kid, dont think it would take too much to get him, I'm all for changing that to someone else.
