Bit of an overpay by the leafs also leaves us well over the cap.

I made an adjustment with Zaitsev going to Arizona for a 3rd, then Toronto sending that 3rd to St. Louis for Jordan Schmaltz an offensive defenseman with a low cap hit this year and next year.

Now you are very funny. Sanford isn't going the other way. I will now actually say that a Toronto deal will not get done if people undervalue pietrangelo, I get you don't want a 29 Year Old Defenseman, but come on now he is worth that. He will also want to stay because he is from the Toronto area. You are bogus hoping Toronto wins every deal. Just face the simple fact a deal isn't going to be happening between these 2. Especially not Parayko because your offers a god awful for him too.

I completely agree here. Alex P may not be a Norris trophy Dman (but very well could win won in the coming years), but he is easily considered one of the top 10 in the NHL. To think that you are not going to have to give up something good is ridiculous. Every trade with Petro needs to start with a good young roster player and a top end prospect and a pick. Most I have seen is Kapanen and Liljegren and a first. I believe this is fair. Also, on a side note, I think Sanford has some value to, i dont see him being a throw in.

Didn’t notice sanford in the deal. Not really someone that the leafs need. Would say maybe add a second.

Honestly I don't think Toronto is the right team to be trading with when it comes to Defenseman.

I don’t think so either, not big salary ones anyway. We don’t have the cap space. With a strong being older than our core it’s just not a great fit. A team like the sharks before they got Karlsson and are making a last stab or two would be willing to give up more.

I don't really think anyone is willing to sell a player to you for what you are wanting.

Lol, a young top 6 forward an A defensive prospect and a first round pick.... yeah I think there are plenty of Gm’s That would trade 1.25 years for 15 yrs of term. they’re just not ACGM’s. If St. Louis is pushing for a playoff spot it’s obviously deal off.

I think this is a give and take deal for both teams. I keep seeing Leafs fans say they don't think Petro stays in Toronto but he is from there and no doubt had dreams of playing for the leafs as a kid. He will see what team the leafs have and want to stay, This deal gives both teams mega teams that would compete for the Cup every year. Hopefully Toronto can ditch Horton or Zaitsev's contract on someone or if the Blues can find someone willing to take on Zaitsev then I would be down with taking him.

Schmaltz was put on waivers this year and not one team took him for free. Why then would Toronto give up a 3rd for him?

Sanford is definitely NOT a throw-in. The dude is big, has soft hands, is young and cheap, and his game is improving every night. I'd hate to see the Blues trade him. The dude is going to be good. In fact, most people forget he was the "prospect" we got for Shattenkirk.

Another thing...Petro stated on a St. Louis radio station that he'd like to go to Toronto if he ever got the opportunity. If the Leafs acquire him, I'd argue he'd stay unless they just ridiculously underbid his next contract. He might actually take a slight discount to play in his home town to stay on a loaded team with real cup promise.

Well....It's a lot less likely to happen now that the Leafs got Muzzin. Definitely in season, Petro isnt going anywhere. I could still see in the off-season. I dont want another Shatty situation, but it looks like we are going to have one. I dont think the Blues want to commit the years and money it will take to keep him here, we will see.
