But Blues could sign him to the 8 years and then trade him to Toronto right?

I'm ALL about that & I hope that you're right!! To me.. the only way the Faulk trade and insane extension makes sense is Armie knows Petro isnt coming back. So he wanted to get another RD as soon as possible locked up. Again, hope I'm wrong, but why else sign him to that extension?

In St. Louis, a lot of us think he wants to go there because he's from there and used to play with Tavares in his youth. It seems almost like a situation like Tavares. Could be wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised. I think the Blues making the trade for Faulk and then signing him to that insane deal is because Petro told them he was leaving. It's the only thing that trade makes sense.

Perron is having a stellar year, maybe his best ever. Makes me think he may not be able to repeat, and with Kyrou/Kostin/Blais/Sanford providing cheap production, I could see a scenario where we sell high on Perron, but it may not be very likley - paradoxical for a GM to trade a guy for overperforming.</div></div>
Normally I would agree with you, but Perrons numbers have been that way the last 3 years. So it's not just a this year thing. 17-18 - 66 pts / 18-19 - 46pts in 57 games / 19-20 57 pts in 63 games. Granted he had injuries last year, but PPG production was there.
I like Sanford, but I need to see more. He just now has become consistent for a long period. Need to see more before I trust him to put up Perron numbers. I dont see Blais putting up a lot of numbers. my opinion, but I see a ceiling of a good 3rd liner who bangs and can throw in maybe 35 pts +/-. Havent seen nearly enough of Kyrou or Kostin, obviously I love their upside, but I have seen too many "great prospects" come through and not work out for me to trust that they will put up those numbers either. Time will tell, I hope so!!

Agreed on Steen, but he does have value, not that much, but we cant trade him. We have had trades in place for him that he nixed. He only has one year left, then i would think he would be gone. I dont see a buyout, Armie never buys anyone out. He can't afford to throw away money like that.

I didnt even consider Jaybo, was just thinking he would be less than the $4m he was making. Players don't typically take that much of a pay cut. But I could see him taking less than $3.5. I think Bozak is the most likely to be traded because of his modified NTC. Steen probably still wont approve of any trade. I think out of the $5m+ guys we have, Bozak is the most likely candidate. I would also rather keep Perron as well. His production for $4m is pretty good, plus we all know he loves it here.
I completely agree on Allen, you need a capable backup, but $4.3 for a backup is a lot. I get keeping him this year to make sure on Binnie, but i wouldnt be surprised if he is traded at all to free up cap

I was wondering about his contract. I know he was making $4m, so wasn't sure how much to come off of that. I figured he would be worth more than $2m though. He has looked like a perfect fit for us, albeit only a couple games. Much better than Faulk has all year.

Perron's production at $4m would be hard to replace. I really dont see us being able to dump Faulk, although I am all for it. He has a full NTC, so he would have to agree. I do think he is better than he is playing, but for someone to commit to that contract would be tough.

People have to accept that Steen isn't going anywhere. When we sucked...maybe he would waive to go to 1-3 teams....but no way he waives to go to a team rebuilding or a crap team. Right now I doubt he goes anywhere because of how we're playing. No one should put him in any trade cause I just don't think it's happening. I would only put a SMALL possibility of going to Vegas, but that's very small possibility.

Every time this type of situation comes up i think "Well, Perron came back on the ice.. so he must be ok." Just can't help thinking that! I'm sure it's not serious or he wouldnt have, but i would imagine it swelled up like crazy after the game. May not be enough to keep him out long term... but could be for tonight. Again, we will see. I would take Gardiner... about lineup changes, I could see only 2 things. Maybe Steen goes back in after the birth of his child. If so, do they take Fabbri back out? I thought he looked better in the 2 games he played, saved a goal on that one play. If not, then who? Also, Jeremy Rutherford reported this morning that several people saw Tarasenko in a protective boot out and about yesterday after that fall he had (on a hold that wasnt called) last game. Hopefully this is precautionary, but we should know more at 10:30 when the morning skate happens.
Here's hoping to a full lineup, we will certainly need it against the Leafs.

Very true, Bozak will never live up to $5m a year, but if Buffalo didn't try to stall and pull more out of us he would have never signed here. When we signed him Buffalo was probably like.... "Oh ***! They are serious about not giving up more and moving on. Get Armie on the phone!"

TDL - Jimmy Howard
I might be willing to do that..... although from what everyone has said Detroit wants a first. As far as the other lineup changes. Kyrou is invisible when he is here, he needs to stay in San Antonio. He is not ready, NO way do you put him on second line. You have to hope Schwartz hits his groove and Perron comes back healthy. Say want you want about Steen, but he is doing his job. People are upset because of the money he is getting (see Bozak), but he is doing what is asked of him. He is a tenacious forechecker and plays good defense. Yes, i would like more goals, but he is not a liability on the ice, he plays hard and makes it tough for the teams playing against him. And Maroon has been playing MUCH better. He is starting to use his size much more for possession and being around the net. I want Fabbri to succeed just as much as the next guy, but he hasnt done much when he's in. There is a reason Berube hasnt changed the lineup in awhile.
And I'm sorry, but you dont bring in Howard to be backup. I love Binnie to, but you dont give up Blais and a 2nd for a guy to be the backup and then leave after season. Thats a waste. Allen can be the backup if you plan on Binnie being the starter.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>Few Things Schwartz is normally a 60 Point player when fully healthy. He is just now getting back into it scoring for the first time in a long while. I am not interested in making that Carolina deal unless they pay a lot more for him. I like Dadonov a lot, but if there is a way to bypass trading Schenn in this situation I would be more up for it than that interesting offer though. I personally would not like to give up any of our young guys that include Fabbri, Thomas, Kyrou, Bokk, Kostin, and Sanford. Quick I like the idea, but not for that price, and for the simple fact he is aging I don't think Los Angeles is going to try and aim for an arm and a leg for him either. If they are casually trying to tank for hughes I think would take an offer around Allen, 2nd, Blais, Foley/Stevens, and Reinke/Mikkola. I don't think they are interested in Quick anymore they have Campbell for the time being while Cal Petersen becomes the stud next Prime Version of Carey Price/Jonathan Quick. I think it's kind of one of those things Blues are interested in making a push, but not at the cost of the top Prospects they have.</div></div>
I also wonder if they would settle for less than one of our top prospects... the goalie market isnt that great, so i dont think there would be many teams out there willing to give up much. I will say though... with all these young players there wont be room for them all. You want to hold onto them as long as you can, so you know who will be a serviceable player, but it's not possible for them all to make the team.
But I agree with you, the name that always comes to my name is a Stevens, Reinke, Soshkinov... maybe a Walman as well. At this point I would possibly part with Husso as well. With Binnie stepping up it may make him expendable. Also have Fitzpatrick playing well.

Quick to Blues
I proposed a trade for Quick earlier today and was wondering what it would take. I offered Allen and a couple 2nd tier prospects in Sammy Blais and Sanford with a second. I do believe that it may take a Kostin or Kyrou type of player though. I could definitely get behind this.
I honestly think Allen is the perfect player that needs a change in scenery. He is one of the best goalies on the road, but sucks at home. Blues struggled defensively early and Allen paid the price. Not that he played well, but the team play had a bit to do with it to. Maybe if he played for a different team he would only play bad in STL :)

Perron is fine, maybe he hits with Schwartz, but not sure and i wouldn't place money on it. I like him though, just think he's better suited for 3rd line duty.</div></div>
We can agree to disagee about Perron.... i certainly dont think he is a third line player. Over his career he has averaged 52 pts a year (.63 pts per game). He draws penalties and is a tenacious forechecker and is great with possession of the puck. I believe that's a second line player. Especially the last 2 years where he has averaged 72 pts a year or .88 pts per game (this year and last when ADJ for an 82 game season).
Even with Schwartz's struggles this year and last, he is still averaging 61 pts a year ( .744 pts per game) since 14-15' (again AVG over an 82 game season w/o injury)
Those are second line players. We really need Schwartz to step up and get back to normal to have any chance though. Hopefully the goal last night is a good sign.

Steen won't be unloaded to LA. He might waive to go elsewhere though and if not buy him out. While the team does look unbeatable right now, i wouldn't bet on this team sustaining the success due to a lack of a quality second scoring line.</div></div>
I noticed that as well with Binnie....Pang and Kelly pointing that out during broadcasts. I think the problem with Steen is its small window because there probably arent many teams he would accept a trade to. People have said Vegas, maybe Jets..... I also dont think they would buy him out. They cant afford to waste money like that, thats why they have never done it.
As far as second line...... Perron coming back..that's huge with his production this year.... and If Schwartz finally got that monkey off his back, maybe he turns it around.

If he continues, ride him and see what happens in the playoffs. If he's not successful, go for Quick in the offseason and have him start fresh. If we unload Steen, that pays for Quick alone.</div></div>
I understand that to, if we have to, then we have to. I would just look into it. I just dont want us to work so hard to get there and then all of the sudden all the pressure of having a great team and making a push for the playoffs doesn't overwhelm him. When teams start to see Binnie more, they will have a playbook for him. They will know his tendencies, they will find holes that you and I can't see. That is why it is so hard to sustain great play as a rookie. Also, would love to unload Steen, i just dont see it happening. He wants to be here.. and why would he accept a trade to LA, they are going to suck for awhile. He wouldnt waive to go to Calgary at the draft, i dont think he would waive to go to LA. I think we are just stuck with him.

Quick - What would it take
Quick has 4 years left, but his salary is much lower in the last 3 years of the deal ($3.5/$3/$2.5) Kings sucks, so his numbers do. He didnt all of the sudden become bad. He is a great playoff performer and has won cups. I think he would be ideal.
I get what people say about Binnie, but can we please stop putting all our faith in a rookie goalie. In St Louis we have gone through this multiple times and each time it fails. I love Binnie dont get me wrong, but this team is legit. They look like they can beat anybody, THIS is the team we all envisioned at the beginning of the season. YOU CANNOT seriously think you are going to make a run with a rookie goaltender. Can it happen, yes, but unlikely.
Imagine this team with a bonafide playoff cup winning goaltender? I would definitely look into, and if it takes a top prospect I would go all in. Maybe I'm jumping the gun on this team, but the iron is HOT and to me a goalie like Quick could be the piece of the puzzle this team needs. (just like what was said in the offseason, beginning of the season).
