Well you got rid of him for picks and used the cap space to get these other players so ya he's apart of this. I don't think acquiring all the players Oilers didn't feel like paying to replace Nylander who you traded for futures makes this team better.

Oilers just paid someone to take his contract at 700k more. You just traded Nylander, Jarnkrok and a 3rd for Yamamoto, Kostin and Domi effectlively.

Jarnkrok scored 16 even strength goals for us, can play all forward positions, is at a reasonable cap hit, plays up and down the lineup and most importantly we aren't talking about shooting him to the moon like Yamamoto.

Yeah that’s fair. I did have the same thought regarding the amount of picks, I felt the need to move our 24 3rd to this years 3rd from WPG so we could have another pick in this draft.

But yes the 1st this year is one of not too many top tier draft capital we have, so it will need to be used effectively, wether that’s selecting a player or using it for something else.

Cap restrictions/ goalies are voodoo. Ulmark doesn't have the "perennial vezina" tag like Hellebyuck has yet. There's only a handful of guys that are in that category everyone else plays musical chairs.

Jarnkrok 1.1 g/60 compared to Yamamoto’s 0.6 g/60 while being glued to McDavid or Drai’s hip.

Being paid 30% more for a much worse season than players who make that much less will make you a buy out candidate pretty quick.

We are happy with Jarnkrok and what he’s done here so we aren’t desperate to ship him out like you guys are trying to get rid of Yamamoto.

Not the best comparison. A late 2nd isn’t really that much anyways, we see worse players be traded for that at the deadline pretty frequently.

I would consider it. Carlo is on a good contract and would be a piece that the Leafs really need. Frederic isn’t just a throw in either, solid bottom 6 physical player. There probably is some wiggle room in the deal to tinker but I like the pieces.

Sujet: Overpay for 1 year deals

This isn't an overpay for ROR at 1 year. The guy is looking at probably 10-15m over 2-3 years on the contract he's about to get from someone. This contract is only 6m dollars. Why would he risk potentially 5-10m dollars on a 1 year deal?

This is likely his last contract and if I was him a 1 year term is a non starter unless the money is a lot more than he will get AAV over 2-3 years.

I think its going to be hard to get an asset back for Goodrow. I know he a capable player and I actually rather like him, but he is expensive for his role.

He's owed 15m real dollars over the next 4 years, I feel like there are enough options out there where you can spend less on bottom 6 pieces and see similar results without giving up a pick. Everyone knows the Rangers need to move some money around, and that's going to hurt them in negotiations. I feel like GMs are just going to tell the Rangers to buy him out if they don't like what teams are willing to pay/ ask.

Like I said, I understood your reasoning. But your evaluation of Marner is completely off base. You're fine to think that. But to the people who watch him every night, Tavares and Matthews ain't getting close to those seasons without Marner. He is an offensive masterclass, go watch highlights of their goals those 2 seasons and you'll see Marner put pucks off their asses and into the net. It's great to watch. Add in a Selke candidate and leading the league in takeaways. Like come on. I know Leafs fans can be annoying but to say he got carried is just a troll take. I can give credit to Carolina's players for what they bring to the table, and their skills sets. You guys have a ton of great players. The guys been over a PPG for 5 straight years.

If you want to talk about playoffs Marner than go right ahead I wont argue with ya. But to say this guy got carried in the regular season is just not true.
