Liljegren hasn't earned 3M and Leafs should target Montour over Pesce imo.
Flames accept, will even retain an extra 1M

The reason why Florida would do this. The only logic behind trading Ekblad is so they have to keep Montour and Reinhart. Reinhart will cost less than Marner for a relatively similar caliber of play.

Assuming no major surprises with the remainder of R1 Toronto's pick will either be 22nd or 23rd. That's not exactly a late 1st. Minten has literally already played in the NHL, you can also literally click on his page to see his scouting analysis and projection. Calling him a fringe prospect is just ignorant. Jarnkrok is a fine player good for 35 points a season with a solid 2-way game and you could easily flip him for another 2nd.
How is that not a comparable return to Lindholm? The difference in prospect caliber is not that far off and you would be getting an almost guaranteed higher 1st round pick by at least 4 spots.
Maybe this is as simple as I'm a lot higher on Minten then you guys

Islanders rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>I don’t agree at all with this statement. Lundkvist wasn’t by any means a established Nhlers at all. Dallas could have acquire a complete bust en lost him the next year via waivers. Dallas acquire him because they believe he was a players that could help them. If a team inquired about Barron it’s because they believe he can have a impact for them so waivers won’t even be a question mark. Barron is not 25 he is 22. Defenseman growth always take longer.
Rasmus Sandin landed a 1st round pick and he wasn’t waiver eligible and wasn’t a established defender. Best example would probably be Jake Bean. Carolina received a 2nd rounder for a defenseman who had less experience than Barron and also who was left handed. I just don’t by your theory. It would applied maybe on a player that haven’t shown any promise but it ain’t the case with Barron. He have shown he can play at a high level in the NHL, problem like i said is just consistency like most you g player. Barron still have top 4 potential despite not being a all star at 22 years old. Some scout are full aware of that and he still hold great value, i have absolutely no doubt about that.</div></div>
Your whole premise is relying on a team wanting to spend assets to acquire him. And your argument is a single example of a player who is in a different situation traded for high value.
What about Bernard-Docker, Lassi Thomson, Bjornfot, Valimaki, Ty Smith? Would you offer a 2nd for either of Soderstrom or Heinola right now?
I am not at all arguing that defensemen take longer to develop on average but it is factually correct that one you lose waiver exemption, if you are not an established NHLer your trade value plummets. There are hundreds of examples of this. Eli Tolvanen is a great one for example, look at his success despite being a waiver claim.

Minny trade framework
Rossi being a natural center is far more important to the Wild positionally speaking. As for player skill and potential Johnston > Rossi. Yes Columbus needs a 2C but they shouldn't be trading Johnston to do that.

That's not how that works. They are still valued as rentals for the sake of trade purposes. Extensions would be signed after the trade is made if at all

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlameFlameFruit</b></div><div>no he doesn't.</div></div>
There is a very legitimate chance he does. Him, Samsonov, and Keefe are going to get run out of town this summer. I could see him being a great fit for Nashville though, him and Forsberg would have excellent synergy. I think the Preds probably have to include Fabbro but otherwise it's probably a good basis for a trade.

Florida isn't adding picks to a trade like that. They are a vastly better not making that trade and just keeping Reinhart

Marner is literally actively tanking his own value. He is also a rental with a full NTC and Columbus is a bottom 3 team in the league this season. Marner would never waive there and Columbus would never consider a deal like this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>Dallas paid a first round pick for Lundkvist who wasn’t having any success in North America at that time. Barron is still only 22 and he is a right handed defenseman. There definitely team that would take a chance for a second round pick no doubt there. Barron have been inconsistent for sure but he have had dominant stretch also.</div></div>
Nils Lundkvist had another year of waiver exemption when he was traded. You clearly don't see how relevant waiver exemption is. Once you loose exemption if you aren't an established NHLer your trade value plummets.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>Chychrun isn’t a #1 dman at all, he has 2 40pt season in his career he has 17 more career points than Girard logging over 200 more minutes of PP time, his shot metrics 5v5 are middle of the road. You want to pay him $8.5M be my guest have fun with that and a guy that is a 2nd pairing dman.</div></div>
He's injury prone no doubt but 2 40 point seasons is literally 3 more than Girard.
Wdym his shot metrics 5v5 are middle of the league? 5.75 iSF/60 at 5v5 puts him near the top of the league among defensemen. Just because he's not 1st pair on Colorado doesn't make him 1st pair on a majority of teams in the league

Graves is underrated and can do it all. Duclair can still produce and is well acquainted with Huberdeau already
We can always move Tanev again if it doesn’t work out. Not sure what his actual interest level or the probability of him returning is though</div></div>
No they wouldn't, this team is worse than the team we had this season. Graves is on par with Zadorov, he's a decent #4/5 but not a top pairing guy by any means. Still no 1C, no one to replace replace Hanifin, and a strict downgrade in goaltending
