RW dump for RHD dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLaveragefan</b></div><div>IMO - Risto would provide for a stop-gap at RHD to let Mailloux and Reinbacher develop in the AHL longer. I see no need to rush them.
Savard will be gone by TD anyway.</div></div>
I would rather resign savard who is already an established leader on the team if thats a true need than add Risto. Also Mailloux just set the rookie scoring record for Laval and looked fine in the few games he dressed with the habs if he shows up to camp ready to go then give him a spot, Reinbacher will probably warrent a bit of team in MTL as well. Just because you stow a player in the AHL for longer doesnt mean they actually develop better.

why? we have RD coming, how is adding to that log jam better than simply riding out Anderson?

Trade back with CGY what would you offer

theres nothing habs are going to get back from the flames or select with the 9th pick that will be worth more to them than landing one of the top forwards in the draft at 5

Marner for future
mctavish straight up for marner is a very easy no from the ducks. not too mention why would marner waive to go there in a contract year? regardless of what the leafs want its in marner best interest to remain in toronto ride this year out hopefully close in or surpass 100 points and either get paid by the leafs or hit free agency as the prize of the available forwards.

it probably isnt a fit, i'm just saying the most important part of a marner deal is getting him to waive.

maybe marner would waive for vegas, but dont see why he would want to go to seattle in a contract year

Hutson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>If they decide to hit the gas and bring in a forward, they will need to give something of value to get something. Most teams don't want picks, they want players.
If the Habs believe:
1) They want to hold a veteran presence, they won't drop Matheson
2) Hutson is gonna be like Quinn Hughes, they'll create space for him
3) Reinbacher & Mailloux will both work out on the right side. They may see a future top 4 of:
Hutson Reinbacher
Matheson Mailloux
and maybe eventually
Hutson Reinbacher
Xhekaj Mailloux
Signing Guhle feels right now, but down the road he might feel like Chabot in Ottawa.
Honestly I love Guhle, but if we want to go pickup a young star from another team, trading him seems like a reasonable sacrifice.</div></div>
i would pay someone to take matheson before i would give up Ghule personally. Matheson has logged a ton of minutes sure, but he is exposed regularly and his point production is not necessarily going to remain at this level, to me he feels a lot like petry where when the offensive dries up its going to be rough to watch. I think his value right now is as high as it will be and the return could be worth moving him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Antorche</b></div><div>That's completly true! It's not that I don't want him on defence nor to suceed there, it's only because there's so much nhl ready dman on this team that I don't see how he can start the year in the nhl if there's no changes or trades</div></div>
i think Hutson will have a spot in mtl to start the year, i expect a few trades but IF he does start in Laval thats not really the end of the world. could have him playing 20 +min a night with Reinbacher and build some chemistry together.

i would say theres less than 1 % chance Ghule is moved. He has well ahead of the rest of the young dcore right now. I think Harris and Barron are most likely to get moved. Kovacevic isnt going to be taking anyone spot whether he is moved or not.

Hutson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Antorche</b></div><div>I'm not saying he didn't but he's almost sure to start in the Ahl if 1 or 2 Dman are traded. We see all kinds of funny trades here to go get Zegras, Johnson, Sillinger, Perfetti etc.... why not try one of our best offensive weapon in another spot so he can help the offense. It worked for Burns and Byfuglien the other way around, maybe it could work for Hutson</div></div>
habs have lots of dman coming up but not that have the potential to be elite offensively. Also you act like changing position is a simple thing that can be accomplished in an offseason. Hutson already has to acclimate to the NHL which is a big step maybe dont ask him to also change position at the same time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>At this point I think Marner would waive his NMC to go to any team. Just to get out of Toronto and show he can be that player for a team.
As for the Anderson contract, Leafs would need a player that can go into corners and hit, while he wasn't great this year in points, he's still a bigger guys able to hit and move the puck. And if that doesn't pan out they have the ability to buy him out, or retain and trade.</div></div>
i dont think marner is looking to get out, but assuming thats correct then i agree leafs need someone who can hit , go to the corner and move the puck, anderson doesnt do any of that consistently

Sending Marner Westward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Whalers7997</b></div><div>Where else would you send Tavares? Granted PLD is a reclamation project, but he's still young and not double digits. Leafs would probably need to retain some money.</div></div>
Tavares isnt going to waive, so you probably sending him to the 2nd line as usual, And to that point why is Marner going to waive for the ducks?

the only reason canes would move Necas is if they blown away by an offer (that certainly isnt the case here) or Necas wants more money than they can justify. If its the latter than that contract is probably 8 8.5.mil per.

Habs and Guhle avoid the Vlasic comp and opt for the Drysdale bridge instead
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>Guhle is by far better than Vlasic, but Kent Hughes is a master to underpaid his players.</div></div>
its doesnt seem Hughes' style, he knows its better to sign him to 8 years with a bit lower aav and save in that time frame. if we bridge ghule then that next aav may be north of 7.5-8 instead of 6-6.5

agreed what Ghule has done would be equivalent of a forward putting up 50-60 points. 20 goals isnt nothing but Ghule has been solid since he showed up and continually improved defensively.

no more stupid than thinking you will land matthews after a record goal scoring year for an unproven 18 year old and some minor pieces. Leafs most likely make a change this offseason but its not going involve moving Mathews.

Habs 2024-25
theres no way Tkachuk gets dealt to the habs, gallagher would need probably calgary's first packaged with him to get someone to take the full contract. Anderson at this point is a near full cap dump. Dvorak maybe returns that if habs retain and Pearson is a UFA so was that just a mistake or trying to trade his rights?
