Blues and Montreal fans thoughts
I think MTL will have better prospects available at 5 so they’d probably pass. Plus I’m still very excited about the prospect of Thomas feeding snuggerud for a decade. I think he’s setting up for a massive season for the gophers after acknowledging he wasn’t good enough last season

Have you seen how bad the Habs are at defence when Guhle is out? He's the only player on the team, including Matheson & Savard, who can defend against top lines.
This deal sets us back, and for what? A player with upside who has not been able to prove it like Dach was? Guhle is not Romanov. Guhle is way way better. As soon as you trade Guhle, you start looking for the next Guhle.
I know the Habs have tons of LD, but honestly none of them have remotely shown the ability Guhle has right now. To me the Habs trading Guhle is like Dallas trading Johnston.
Why trade a player that's working out, y'know?
Go sign a UFA center. I promise you Lindholm & Monahan will both outperform Johnson next year.

the 2nd one seems like a fair deal to me

MTL says no for the FLA trade, Reinbacher is not for sale.
DAL trade is a wash. Both players aren't more the depth pieces at this point.

Dobson for Tkachuk
Interesting concept, definitely fills OTT's need of a high-end RD, however I think Dobson > Tkachuk by a decent bit and Pinto doesn't fill that, so it should really be OTT adding

Not the right pieces for Necas. I agree with the other posters that have said this, MTL and CAR are not good trade partners.

Next Year
If Montreal is going to trade the Winnipeg first round pick, Jordan Harris (in the separate trade) and a 2nd round pick then I would rather that they use all 3 of those assets in just 1 trade to try to move up from the position in the draft that the Winnipeg pick ultimately lands at.
As the others above have said, Kakko is not a big addition to the long term plans for Montreal. He has been in the league for 5 years now and has proven to be a 30 to 40 point player. That is not a key piece to the rebuild.

Next Year
Agreed that the trade for Kakko isn’t a good one.
I can see the CHI being a decent one. D-Vo would get plenty of opportunity in CHI to build up value and flip him at the deadline. I think MTL has to add value in this and retain 1M$ of his salary. Then CHI can retain on him again at the deadline, offering D-Vo at a (roughly) 1.7M$ cap hit to someone as a depth center with good faceoff abilities. Probably fetches you another 3rd rd pick.
The VAN pick being sent to MTL is likely going to be a late 2nd rd pick, so it’s almost like stepping back a few spots in the draft to get an NHL caliber dman. Works for both teams.

24-25 Habs Playoff Team
We're not trading Guhle or Beck for starters, but I'd gladly target those players with an adequate package. I don't see PHI moving TK without a colossal return though. Too much in terms of value going to ANA for Zegras, but also not the right pieces for ANA to be overly interested. I'll repeat here, we are not trading Guhle.

I love that in the mayhem of the replies of the ACGM, you find a way to pick out Jordan Staal... honestly, it doesn't matter because his buyout penalty is only 200k, but this made me laugh. Thank you.

I’m willing to ride the Monty/Primeau wagon for a while.
That’s a brutal offer for Knight anyways.
Plus, your best dman is a healthy scratch. Kinda hard to take you serious when Guhle isn’t in your lineup.

Moving up at the draft
So last year it cost the Coyotes 27th + 2 2nd round picks for the 11th OVA pick but the Habs are gonna trade 2 1sts + 3 2nds for a winger we don't want or need and the same pick?! Hughes and company don't even consider this, take out Matheson, Farrell and Palat and that's the deal
Alternatively, Matheson for the Devils 1st + 2nd works too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Did you miss the Canadiens throw Drouin at center? The best way to move a guy to the middle is to put him in the bottom six and let him adjust slowly, just as Aho did. Carolina can't do that, they have Aho and 3 3C's. Why would you shoehorn a guy out of position to accommodate Necas when Necas is having success where he is? Especially because 2C wasn't an issue before this year. KK was great last year, and Trocheck was great before that.</div></div>
So let me getting straight, you claim Necas can play and is a natural center but he isn't playing center cause you have excellent center depth, then you contradict yourself by saying that you have 1 1C and 3 3C's that Necas is better than but don't want to play him at 2C cause you want him to develop at 3C and you don't want to promote someone to 2C that doesn't deserve it, even though that is exactly what is happening right now with KK at 2C. Just move Staal off of 3C and play Necas there to "develop him properly" if he is a natural center as you claim then playing him on the wing is actually what is hurting his development as a center. The truth is (and I am sure you are well aware of it otherwise you wouldn't have said that he isn't playing center cause you have a 1C and 3 3C's) he isn't a center, there is nothing wrong with him not being a center, wingers are people too, just not as crucial to the teams success or as valuable and that's what you are trying to convince everyone of, that he is a center so he has more value than people think, that's just you dreaming out loud

LMFAO are you serious? Do you not watch hockey? Or do just plain not get that centermen , especially almost ppg centermen have way more value than wingers?
