lol the guy got mad that Toronto would be outbid in a Chych deal and made a seperate AGM to show his views on Turcotte.
If Turcotte was on the leafs, they'd treat him like the next prime Toews

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>West_Virginia_Take_Me_Home</b></div><div>Then your logic still makes no sense. If you are going to say they are all backups, then it does little to improve your goalie situation.
1.) Holtby isn't a true backup. He's split the starts
2.) Husso is the starter at this point.
3.) Georgiev is a backup but the point still stands. He's either playing like a backup and you still don't have a starting goaltender, or he's a starting goaltender and the rangers aren't going to take that for him
4.) Varlamov is still posting impressive save % and gaa all things considered. But it's going to still cost more than a second.</div></div>
1) Oettinger is the real starter in Dallas, even though he's played only 3 more games his nubmers are significantly better plus Holtby is a pending UFA at the end of the year, there's no way he can fetch more than a 2nd and a small piece
2) I agreed that Husso was the starter which is why I explained that the trade is very out there to make
3) Georgiev is a gamble as you don't know how well he'll play in a starter role as he's under the shadow of Igor. Again, he IS NOT the starter whatsoever in New York and this is the type of return they'll get for a pending RFA and a guy that might not want to be a backup for the rest of his career considering Igor's age.
4) Varlomov is the team's backup, and yes his save% is great but that's a huge team factor, if you look at his analytics, his GSAx is average amongst all goalies. And again, I didn't trade just a second, I traded two 2nd round picks which is near the value of a 1st as we've seen from multiple trades in the past.

Goalie options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>West_Virginia_Take_Me_Home</b></div><div>No, I mean pretty much all of your trades are a 2nd or a 2nd and something else that doesn't really wow a team. I just don't see how you would plan on going to any team and take their starting goaltender for a second? We traded Allen as the backup and got a second.</div></div>
Varlamov - only has 2 years left and has a fairly large contract. He might not get a 1st in return as he isn't even the starter on his own team. Plus, the two 2nd's are close to trade value to a 1st (as seen from multiple trades).
Holtby - pure rental and shouldn't fetch more than a 2nd as he isn't a true number 1 anymore
Georgiev - pending RFA, rangers won't be able to re-sign him nor will he want to re-sign as a backup there. Similar to the talbot trade when he went from NYR to EDM
Husso - trade value he has is a huge question mark considering his small sample size and his non exsistent track record as he hasn't played in the league much prior to this year. This is what I deemed to be fair for a pending UFA who is playing amazing but doesn't have proof that he can keep up this play long term. But like I said in my description of the trade, he has more value to the Blues than what they can get back so it's pretty far out there that the trade would happen
All of these guys are backups besides Husso as well

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Can't see Seattle trading a 2nd for an overpriced 30-year-old luxury item. They're just into building the first time, not one highly specialized piece away from contending.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Wow, so much to sort through here. Let me give it a shot.
- Barrie is overpriced (this is not a hot take at all), and bringing up two far superior and yet still overpriced examples doesn't help the argument.
- Barrie was capable of producing at a similar level (not outproducing them), but that time appears to be in the past now.
- Let's be real, his flaws are not overblown. Dude is a major defensive liability, and he no longer produces enough to obscure that well-known fact.
- The guy has 18 points in 41 games, and just nine in 644 even strength minutes. If it wasn't for coat-tail riding McD and Drai, those numbers would be even sadder. And for a 30-year-old guy with obvious defensive issues and a 2x4.5 remaining after this season, that is not what I consider covering his salary. If you think it is, well gosh... good luck with all that. Just be aware that there are currently 59 RDs with a better points per $ ratio (or almost enough for every team in the league to have two), and almost all of those are far superior defensively. There are 151 D-men with better pts/$ ratios, which is a little under five for every team (and again, most are much better defensively, to boot). In all, there are a grand total of 530 NHL players currently with a better pts/$ ratio, or enough for every team to have just over 16-and-a-half of them (and, mind you, teams dress 18 skaters per night).
I don't know what else to tell you, man.</div></div>
I thought that Barrie wouldn't be the right fit in Seattle which is why I made the trade not team specific but we've seen crazier things from GMs.
Also, if you look on nautralstattrick, you can see that Barrie's offensive analytics are pretty much on par with Klingberg's. And I'd imagine Klingberg (as a rental) fetching at least a 1st this year. But in all honesty, Barrie sucks and it would be a win for the oilers if they got rid of him while getting value back.

If the isles continues to trend down and he plays bottom pairing minutes I think he'd rather seek a team that plays him more and is a contender. Also a good idea for the isles to trade him to strengthen their prospect pool while not losing too much on a strong right side.

I would stay far away from that trade if Holloway was involved. He'll for sure be a top 6 NHL player for majority of his career and I wouldn't be trading that away for a rental. Samorukov is a projected second pairing dman and has been developing nicely as he's went from the OHL, to the KHL, and now the AHL. He should be an NHL guy next year and as he develops further he should be able to reach his potential. And I also doubt the oilers re-sign lindholm if they traded for him. Really just a pure rental to me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntreDiAnaheim</b></div><div>That’s an insulting Lindholm trade</div></div>
Teams won't pay more for 30 games plus playoffs for a guy. It seems to be a fair trade and what probably Anaheim will get at most for lindholm at the deadline unretained. And since teams can't put conditions on resigning anymore, I'll make the condition to be if the oilers make the conference final the pick turns into a 2024 2nd.

Canucks can't be taking back cap with a Schenn trade. Better off trading a mid round pick (3rd-4th) and a small prospect piece.
Mrazek and Ritchie are cap dumps so you'll have to add value for a team to take them.
The value both ways for the Rangers trade is okay, but I don't think that's what the Rangers want in return, they'd probably be looking for a better player who can make immediate impact.

Korpisalo is not that good, he's probably just as good as koskinen so no point in trading for him.
I think you can get a better player for the package you gave up for Miller
Barrie will probably fetch a 2nd at best and MIN won't want him but there will be teams that do.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Siegenthaler has been better than Graves on most nights. Siegs currently leads NHL in defensive Goals-above-Replacement and his partner, Severson, is #5. They have developed into our top-pair (and would likely remain so even if Hamilton were healthy). And usually lead team in TOI.
Smith has had up-and-down sophomore season, so has been third pair. Graves could potentially be move at deadline if Smith gets a little more consistent and/or they view Bahl or Okhotiuk as ready for call-up.
But it’s doubtful we move any d-man. Maybe Subban.</div></div>
But going forward in the future, the team wouldn't have the space for all of these guys, and it's clear that NJ won't make the playoffs this year. But the sense I'm getting from NJ fans is that Graves would go before Siegenthaler. And for relatively the same package as what you guys gave up for him right? I assume NJ would have to trade one of their LD as Smith will definitely be improving for majority of his career. I know Siegenthaler is a hidden gem in this league which is why I made a mock trade for him but I still like graves as well. If a 2nd and Lavoie would do the trick I would think it's a fair deal.
