Until they know Voracek and Texier aren't coming back next year they need to be prepared for them to be around and they've already got Gaudreau, Laine, Marchenko, Johnson, Chinakhov, Bemstrom and maybe Voronkov if he's not playing center that need top 9 wing spots too. They might even wind up with Roslovic playing the wing too if they pick up one of these top centers in the draft.</div></div>
Thanks for the assessment. Earlier in the season I thought there was chatter the Jackets were trying to add more skill to their forwards which is Kravy's strength.

Obviously the season hasn't gone by design, but Kravy's skill level is evident and could flourish elsewhere. While not the best system for his style of play, he has been adapting to the GG way and as noted by Valiquette his advanced stats show well on D.

Blais is a UFA after the season. Let's hope his play gets closer to the expectations after showing out in Hartford, 4 goals in 5g.

Testing if it could work
The only way Meier possibly fits long-term is by trading Goodrow and Lindgren along with bridge deals for the RFAs. It hurts depth too much going forward. Boeser may be the more realistic option if futures are included to pay for salary retention.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AG_sweden</b></div><div>The problem is I don't see a line of Kravtsov - Laffy - Blais earning many minutes, unless Laffy can be next year what Chytil has been for us this far. Which is to be honest something most NYR fans where looking forward too, but hasn't happened yet. There is an inconsistency that needs to be washed away in Laffy's game, and my hope was with more min, more production, more consistency and more attention to details. I could see him centering someone like Domi and Kravtsov at a TDL move for Domi.
So like this
Kreider - Mika - Kakko
Panarin - Chytil - Trocheck
Domi - Laffy - Kravtsov
Vesey - Goody - Gauthier</div></div>
Good point, Blais definitely needs to step it up, he is in the right mold for the 3L but needs to display his skills which we have seen glimpses of. It could work if we are trying to acclimate Laffy to the middle at the same time and if Blais is holding up the line then time for a change to Domi or Nyquist. Laffy would have to push play and be responsible to utilize his linemates, which could be a big win for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Despise</b></div><div>I’m all for madness, Lafreniere as a center is madness, but in a good way… potentially.</div></div>
I would like to see experimentation so the Rangers have more players capable of moving to the middle if needed. Similar to Stutzle, we need to find a niche for Laffy's broad skill set, and it very well could be as a grit Center (not as a power forward). If the NYR are able to convert a Winger to a Center then it would obviate the need to pay a high price for a young Centerman. I do like Chytil as a Center because his speed and size down the middle is quite disruptive. Chytil looked strong on faceoffs at the beginning of the year, so I think he can do it if he prioritized it, but see Hughes/Haula and Stutzle/Giroux where the Winger is the primary faceoff guy. I like that you kept Blais on the third line because that is what he was brought in to do, so give a longer run and if he can't handle it find another solution. Your 1st and 4th lines are pretty much set going forward with Goodrow as the Floater and Brodzinski, Leschyshyn, and Rydahl more than capable to fill in for Goody if there is a need.
One possible alignment is keeping Chytil and Trocheck (as a RW which would balance us positionally) together with Trocheck handling the faceoffs. Put Laffy on a trial run as the 3rd line Center with Kravy (who also played some Center internationally).

With Kreider out, Laffy is set to play on the 1st line and PP1 against the Stars tonight. The healthy scratch was for one game and about trying to push him, so the comment is out of place. Laffy has been around a half point so far with minimal PP time and the issue GG has with him is consistency. This proposal is something Drury would not consider.

Moot point since rumors have teams thinking of an underpay. Based on what some writers are saying for the Rangers to start talking about a Laffy trade, an unprotected 2023 1st-round pick would need to be on the table. It is also doubtful that it would happen during the season,

If current lines continue to get mixed reviews. something close to the above in the next shakeup should help us going forward as well. The cap space at the tdl would be in the neighborhood of 4.3M. Waiting to see the pending decision on the 22-man roster question.

The Rangers are looking at Kuzmenko of the players mentioned in trades and it would be to happen soon, not the tdl. There are some reports indicating more than interest, so a chance ballpark pieces have been discussed, but the Rangers are scouting him with the intention that he could fit into the lineup as a stable more experienced player, albeit mostly KHL, and that would determine if things heat up with an NYR trade. Last I saw, 11 teams were sending scouts to the Nucks v Habs last night.

RW Swap Fair or Who Adds and What
Gaut is the first AHL call-up and will probably be sent down prior to the 10th when his window closes rather than exposing another bottom 6 to waivers even though he has outplayed some. Without knowing much about Duehr, he probably has a remote chance to see the roster this year behind several others in Hartford. A draft pick could get Gaut but it seems less likely Treliving would trade that on a project rather than shuffle a player from the bottom end of the roster. Ruzicka does look like the player that could add some depth to the roster because he is a big body like Gaut, can play center, and doesn't add salary, but he doesn't seem to be on your available list. I see he hasn't played much this year and is a healthy scratch on your lines. What is going on with Ruzicka?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Sorry, you must have missed it earlier in the thread:
Like Kakko, Tolvanen hasn't quite found the offence he was drafted to provide yet. He's two years older than Kakko, but has produced at a better clip with fewer minutes and lesser linemates to date, brings more to the table defensively, hits & blocks shots more, and has a cheaper contract. If both teams feel they can unlock the scoring potential in the other team's guy, there could be a win-win trade here.
Out of curiosity (not that NSH would be entertaining offers on Jeannot), what else would be in this package aside from a random depth player rental like Blais?</div></div>
Tolvanen does not move the needle on a Kakko trade. Money is a big factor this year and next, so I don't see a Jeannot trade at all. He had a steller last season but his cost would be much more dependent on his play this year at the TDL

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Jeanot and 1st would likely be the landing ground to actually make it happen. That being said I think NYR would rather keep him. Jeanot however would be the tempting piece to downgrade a player. NYR are in the market of piecing guys like Gaut, Kravs, picks to upgrade a player on their roster not the other way around unfortunately. They are in contending mode so more likely to use pieces the way TB did for Coleman or Hagel</div></div>
Jeanot is arbitration eligible and could be due a big raise next year. This would turn him into something closer to rental. A package for Jeanot that included Blais could be worthwhile from the NYR standpoint.

You are not anywhere close. Kakko is 21y, cost controlled and his development is proceeding. He is top-rated in puck control and defensive play. This season he has been able to control play in the O end, starting to display nifty O moves similar to his play in Juniors, and seeing some PP time. There are no real thoughts by Drury to move him.
If I were to construct a trade, it would have to include an NHL-ready young high-ceiling center that can handle 3c now, a top prospect, and a 1st round pick. Adding salary is not an option.

So What is the Issue with Blake Wheeler
FWIW, I heard one pundit describe the situation as a divided locker room with the Wheeler camp and the Scheifele camp. Although I heard an interview with Scheifele and he claimed no issue and that Wheeler was his captain. I can't imagine moving that cap hit for this year and next at his age would be that easy even if the Jets were actively pursuing it.

Those are some pricey packages in AGM. I didn't realize that CBJ was playing in the high-end rental market, but if you can afford to resign him then it could be worth it.
