Need to not worry so much about wins and losses beyond qualifying for the playoffs
The young core needs to get premium play time to continue their progress with youth coming in next year
1L Laf and Kakko play with top center; 5v5 improvement?
2L Kreider to RW, will balance depth at RW, let the vet take on this challenge
3L Chytil and Kravtsov form a tandem, new CK; reevaluate needs at the tdl, possible Vesey upgrade?
4L 4-man rotation to keep players fresh; Gauthier finds his role and is able to maintain disruption(s)
Two options for 22 man roster
1. Carpenter is sent through waivers. If Carpenter is claimed, there still is Rydahl for depth.
2. Reaves is traded or sent through waivers for cap savings; if he clears waivers, the cap cost is 625K. Does he clear or not?? The Ducks could be the risk.
Carpenter is versatile, PK, FO, and plays C and W.
Reaves stash in the AHL till after the tdl for the cap could work
Blue line, stick with the prospect of increased playing time for Jones v Hajek; reevaluate needs at the tdl
PP and PK need to start thinking in terms of matchups vs a first and second unit
If current lines continue to get mixed reviews. something close to the above in the next shakeup should help us going forward as well. The cap space at the tdl would be in the neighborhood of 4.3M. Waiting to see the pending decision on the 22-man roster question.
