I mean...why wouldn't Hartman waive? He doesn't want to win a cup I guess?
What would be the offer you find acceptable from the stars for Kirill?

Alright so I got to thinking, will Kirill extend when the time comes? Because once the ntc kicks in he has all the control. Is Minnesota going to be a playoff contender in the next 2 seasons? When would you get the most for him if the answer to those two questions is no or unlikely?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>considering it costs a 4th rounder to get a team to retain 1 million from the deadline to the end of the season, that is incredibly hopeful.</div></div>
The real answer to this, jackets don't trade him.
Having watched him play now for a few years, he's got talent, size, and is RD. He(and the whole team!) would greatly benefit from getting a REAL NHL HEAD COACH finally. Peeke has the right tools, he just needs help putting them to use in the right way.
If another team that's building and has cap was smart they would scoop him up for nothing now and have a real NHL coach already in place for the rebuild. At worst, he fills a hole for 2 seasons. At best, you could end up with a top 4 RD.

2024 Stanley cup champs
Leafs should be selling off anyone they can over the age of 29 for whatever they can get. They can't keep "going all in" with this core and expect a different outcome. Because they do this every year there's nothing significant enough to trade for good pieces anyways, they have cowen and maybe one other prospect who should be untouchable.
Trade off the guys you can get returns on , limp into the playoffs(maybe) and wait for JT's 11M to clear the books after next year, get 2 drafts of restocking prospects, then finally try to build a team.

A big Booner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>That Jenner trade is no where close to what it would cost a team. If Carolina wants Jenner it starts with a 1st and two top prospects. Reason is Jenner is on a very team friendly deal, his game translates to playoff hockey very well in that he is what most teams covet, scarcity of players like him on the market, he plays all situations, he has term on his contract which doesn’t make him a rental, and the Jackets if they did trade him would want a kings ransom for their captain.</div></div>
Hey I want the world for him too haha but if he got moved this season, a real trade does look something like this one with the exception of maybe instead of Drury it could be Jarvis or another 2nd(th could turn into a 1st if Stanley finals are reached).
But I know canes fans might burn the barn down if Jarvis got moved.

Probably one trade combined.
I Wanted to see this trade from the Carolina side of it, if I could choose the team I want Jenner sent to it's 100% the Hurricanes. He fits this team perfectly.

Yes, thats alot. Maybe take out bourgault?
I absolutely hate the idea of trading Jenner, but if he and provorov go together the return would be huge and just maybe worth it in the long run.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Trading Jenner makes sense at this point IMO. It just has to be for a return that works. Broberg wouldn't be a player the Jackets would be interested in with Werenski, Provorov, Bean, Mateychuk, Svozil, and like 6 or 7 more LD prospects in the system.</div></div>
💔
In all seriousness, I don't want to trade Jenner until he's in the last year of the contract. He's so valuable to the young guys coming up, I want him to be the model of what being a jacket means to these guys.
BUT I get its a business too, and if is moved it better bring back something worth it.
Broberg +1st is a good start and I really like Broberg, even if we have so many guys coming up. They all won't beable to play and I could see him pushing the others out for spot. He's killing it in the AHL

Jackets won't retain for two more years for no return.
Also, that preds offer is horrible. A top 4 dman, a middle/top 6 forward and a 2nd for 2 cap dumps and a late 1st...really?🤦

Leafs make an attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>netminder71</b></div><div>First off "if" the Caps can shed Carlson's contract it prob would require retention and they would NOT want older players back. So three players for three players doesnt make a whole lot of sense for the Caps even if term lengths are different.
Dealing Carlson would be smart as I think he's on the decline....and DC could rebuild the right side of the D with Iorio, Bear, Alexeyev, TvR among others. And they could even move Jensen or TvR as well.
Carlson should yield a 1st rounder based on his historical production and PP ability. Maybe a good 2nd and a very high prospect if you cannot get a 1st based on contract term/cost.
Edmundson is worth a 4th or 5th rounder at best, he is a 7th depth guy on most teams.
Dowd would cost a 2nd rounder and a middle prospect. He is WAY too valuable for the return above.
Keep Kampf as he could slot into bottom 6 role like what Eller provided before he left. He's got 4 years of term but at a good salary. Caps prob say no to Brodie even at an expiring deal, there are too many defensemen to develop and that's some prime ice time. Niemala can get moved out of this deal too, he's got 0 NHL games and again there are 3-4 decent D that can develop on lower pairings and AHL.
If I were GMBM I would trade you Carlson, Edmundson, and Lapierre (not Dowd) for a 1st Rounder, 3rd Rounder, and Kampf, plus a conditional middle round pick based on # of games Lapierre gets at NHL level in 2024-2025. Or if he signs beyond RFA contract w/ TOR.</div></div>
Okay fair enough.
But I would think your counter offer is lesser value then?
I had Brodie here with the idea caps would flip him for a pick at deadline.

crazier things have happened, the McDavid effect is a strong one. If bert was asked if he'd waive for the oilers , might be too good to say no to. Especially since the leafs could be out of the playoffs if they don't play more consistently

It's hockey, he's a hockey player. It's what they do.
My thought was at least he'd be waiving to go play with McDavid & company. And it'd only be for the rest of this year/playoffs.

😂 engagement? Yes, that's the point of this site no?
You guys really gotta read the description more often, this was just a thought. I wanted to get the temperature on the idea from the Detroit side really(was a Detroit fan as a kid) and as a jackets fan trading Werenski or Jenner is the last thing I want to see happen, but it's a business. if a team made an offer like this one I'd expect management to at least think it over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>Basically would you trade Fantili for Larkin? That is basically how we feel about it, obviously different comparables but this is the idea. Teams rather gamble on their top picks I think, at least until they have proved something.</div></div>
I see what your saying, I'd only say the teams are going in different directions atm and for the next few years. So if Larkin was 26yrs old like Werenski and we were trying to make moves in the playoffs , it'd be something to at least weigh out
