I should have clarified. That move is at the 2020-21 deadline. I created him here just to show what the trade looked like

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>I think one of the last things the Ducks need are more LHD. I don't think the Manson trade goes through.
Seattle probably just takes Jones and tells Edmonton to piss up a rope if they try to offer anything else shy of highway robbery.
If Barrie isn't traded by this deadline, Edmonton's either doubling down on him or letting him walk. Doesn't make sense to sign then flip immediately.</div></div>
imo Manson has no reason to stay in ANA. They won't be good for 3 or 4 years and he'll only have a few more season left in him. I'd be surprised if they just want to let him walk
If Seattle doesn't take the Kahun and Russell offer that doesn't change much. We just let Kahun walk and bury Russell
That's what I meant for the Barrie trade. This AGM is in 2021 so he's not on our current roster I just created him and traded him. That move would have been at the 2020-21 TDL yea

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Not a Hyman fan, especially at that dollar value. Spend about $1.7M more and grab Tatar and start Holloway on the 3rd line.
The Koskinen and Turris buyouts are unnecessary: bury Turris for the year and run Ullmark as the starter. Dreidger isn't legit enough for my taste: Edmonton's burned through enough unproven goaltenders in my lifetime. It's time to pay someone who's a bona-fide starter. I'm much more preferential to Grubauer.
I'd prefer Hjalmarsson or Martinez on a short-term deal over Savard in this case. Handedness is key, and preventing term from blocking Broberg and Samorukov needs to be considered.
If there's no taxi squad for next season, just waive Stalock and free up the extra money.</div></div>
I agree with everything but personally I don't see Tatar being a fit for McDavid. I know he's young, but I'd rather see Holloway on line 1. McD has rarely found good chemistry with guys, but when he does, they have speed and strength. Tatar seems like a decent finisher but imo, no part of his game screams out that he's a good fit. Iaffolo or Janmark are good fits imo. Maybe Armia. Possibly Hall at the right price
I'd also like to see Holloway at 3LW with an actual 3C. Maybe McLeod works out there next year but I doubt he can produce enough. Our current bottom 6 is quite bad

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>That's all well and good, but Tyson Barrie is not going to fix the Wild's PP. He very likely won't even play the top unit, and Dumba and Spurgeon are already on the second unit. In any case, even if he were to help improve the PP, it's not worth Minnesota giving up a 2nd for.</div></div>
Because the Wild's 6.9% PP doesn't need a shake up? That's historically bad. Whoever quarterbacks PP line 1 should be relieved of his duties lol

I wouldn't mind this plan if we're able to trade down in the draft a few times and stock up on 5th - 7th round picks. Sutter isn't an ideal 3C, but he's around 55% in the faceoff circle. Much better than our current bottom 6

Deadline Redux and Draft Trade
I don't see the appeal of Eric Staal. His FO% is below 50. He has 8 points and is a -15 in 23 games this year. Staal get's a few more points than Turris but honestly, the slight upgrade isn't worth a 2nd. We already have so few draft picks. Ekholm at the right price might be ok but this season isn't worth selling our future for. We did that last year. A guy like Martinez in free agency next summer could play a similar role
I also see Holland trading down, hopefully 2 picks in the 35-65 range depending on what place we finish
If someone give us a pick for Chiasson 50% retained I'm in
Barrie trade is unlikely imo because we just signed him, he's playing well, and the teams playing well. Gives Edmonton a bad look for future free agents if we set a precedent of trading guys after 2 months, especially when they're playing so well (by playing well I mean putting up points. He's brutal defensively but by his standards this is a great season)

When healthy New linup idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Edmonton's primary issues stem from their goaltenders and their coach. Tippett has not assessed what he's been working with very well all season, and the Oilers are winning solely due to a Mike Smith heater. Koskinen has been awful this year. Both Bear and Bouchard are paying for Koskinen's piss-poor performances while Russell and Turris continue to get ice time. Jones is great in sheltered minutes and Tippett won't keep him in.</div></div>
I agree that Tippett has made some controversial choices this year, but like it or not, we've won games. Goaltending has won and lost us games this year, imo it averages out. I give Tipp credit where it's due. He won us the game last night by shuffling the lines, we didn't deserve a win. There's a log jam on defence, can't blame him for benching guys. Holland needs to figure that out. I'd rather Bouch play 22+ minutes/night in the AHL then be scratched half the time

Offseason - No Trades - No Klefbom
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilfan1717</b></div><div>This is good. I doubt Neal retires though, as he’d be walking away from millions of dollars if he did so. It’s a possibility that he goes on LTIR, which would mean he’d still get paid but the Oilers wouldn’t take a cap hit. This is the best case solution.
If Turris is not claimed, send him down to the minors. It’ll cost the team 575K for one season, which is manageable.
Would have liked to see you use that cap room to find a better defenceman than Martinez.</div></div>
Yea we can afford $5-7mill for a dman when considering that we need money to resign Nurse and Bear. There's nobody available in free agency worth that. Maybe we take a run at Hamilton who's likely above our price range. Martinez might be the best LD available unfortunately. If we make a trade this summer it's probably for a top 4 defenseman with defensive capability, although that might cost alot of assets

If we need 3 goalies I'd rather keep Stalock, he costs under 800k. If he's taken on waivers call up Wells. No reason to spend so much on a 3rd goalie who probably doesn't play, Koskinen can be a backup

I don't see a 3 goalie system as being ideal, also uses a lot of cap space. I could see Sutter signing for 1.5mill, his only asset at this point is his faceoff percent, which we need. I'd push him down to 4C, sign one less goalie, and use that cap space to get a 3C. A legit 3C with Holloway could generate some solid, consistent offence

Holloway
I'd really like to see McLeod get a shot, lot's of people have forgotten about him. I'm not sure there's room for him at 4C, maybe a wing. I'm basically certain Holland signs Glendening as a 4C, he's familiar with him from Detroit (knowing Holland he might become our 3C). He's a righty, who can win draws, around 70% in the faceoff circle, highest in the league. He can kill penalties well. Nobody in our bottom 6 is over 50% winning draws. Leon takes way too many faceoffs, it's important we get a guy like Glendening

Tatar wouldn't be awful but I'd rather have a younger or speedier guy play on his wing. McD elevates the guys us his line. It's about finding the right fit for him, not just a guy who can put up some points. imo, nothing about Tatar's game makes him stand out as a fit for McD. Iaffolo, Hall and Janmark have good speed, I'd rather one of them. If Holloway impresses I figure he'll be on McD's line asap, much like Pulju who started on the 3rd line

I used to be all for signing Hoffman, but imo he's slow, and his biggest selling feature is his one timer. He's a lefty, we already have Drai for that option on the PP. As long as it's a 1 year deal it's not the end of the world. I don't think there's a perfect fit for our top 6 this summer in free agency. Janmark or Iaffolo would be interesting signings

Why would Hyman take one for the team with all those 10mill+ contracts in Toronto? He can get paid and he knows it. Wouldn't be surprised to see him make $4mill. Unless the Leafs make a big cut to the goaltending budget this summer there's literally no way they can afford him currently
