Not a Hyman fan, especially at that dollar value. Spend about $1.7M more and grab Tatar and start Holloway on the 3rd line.

The Koskinen and Turris buyouts are unnecessary: bury Turris for the year and run Ullmark as the starter. Dreidger isn't legit enough for my taste: Edmonton's burned through enough unproven goaltenders in my lifetime. It's time to pay someone who's a bona-fide starter. I'm much more preferential to Grubauer.

I'd prefer Hjalmarsson or Martinez on a short-term deal over Savard in this case. Handedness is key, and preventing term from blocking Broberg and Samorukov needs to be considered.

If there's no taxi squad for next season, just waive Stalock and free up the extra money.

Switch Soderberg and McLeod, Holloway to 3LW, take Hyman's 4M and Driedger's 2M and sign a top LW. Run Ullmark and Stalock as your goalies.

I agree with everything but personally I don't see Tatar being a fit for McDavid. I know he's young, but I'd rather see Holloway on line 1. McD has rarely found good chemistry with guys, but when he does, they have speed and strength. Tatar seems like a decent finisher but imo, no part of his game screams out that he's a good fit. Iaffolo or Janmark are good fits imo. Maybe Armia. Possibly Hall at the right price

I'd also like to see Holloway at 3LW with an actual 3C. Maybe McLeod works out there next year but I doubt he can produce enough. Our current bottom 6 is quite bad

You won't get a proven guy for 3 million. I like Driedger as a backup and Ullmark as a main. They could afford to pay him 6 million. Id also rather see turris Buried than bought out. Year 2 is 750K Buyout. I have to think somebody would take Koskinen for 2.75-3 Million AAV with retained salary of 1.5.

Edmonton needs a proven scorer as a top LW not a 4 million dollar 3rd liner. Holloway can Play in hyman's spot.

Didnt want Holloway and Mcloud on the same line, both rookies and didnt want them on the 4th line playing only 8-10 minutes a night.
Tartar is lousy in the playoffs, but I do like him.
Broberg and Samorukov will both be playing AHL next year, Broberg to get to the small ice and Samorukov after 6 month injured.
I left Stalock in not knowing about the taxi squad and you are right about Turis

Soderberg is getting up there in age. Also want Mcloud playing more.

I think McLeod shouldn't be immediately stepping into the #3C role without a considerable safety net on the roster. I'm still very much preferential to signing Staal and running McLeod on the 4th line. He doesn't necessarily need to be limited to sub-10min per night, but I'd much rather he overperforms in a lesser role than underperforms in a prominent one. Gives Holloway a veteran pivot to start with too.

Dismissing Tatar because he's underperformed in small samples while disregarding his effect over the course of the regular season (where the vast majority of the hockey is played tbh) is silly. He's the kind of winger that could help Edmonton push for home-ice advantage during the playoffs. There's value there.

Yes, a one or two-year deal to give Broberg and Samorukov an extra year in the minors, as I said. Again, the philosophy should be giving the kids roster spots on merit instead of a lack of options.

3rd line plays about 12-14 min on the oilers and the 4th 8-10 but if they are doing well Tippett rolls the lines. He likes to play his bottom 6. I can’t see getting Savard and playing him on the Left side that’s everything Tippett hates doing.

How much of the diminished minutes comes from the incumbent 3rd line's inability to produce?

I'm fine with keeping the top two lines between 20-21 minutes per night, but McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent-Hopkins need not be asked to exceed that number during the regular season. A proper 3rd line that can be both offensively and defensively viable helps sort out the depth of this roster in a heartbeat.

A lot could happen before than. So who knows. He might get pushed down by almighty Robertson or leafs might sign someone else that takes a haircut to play there that’s better than Hyman.

Robertson is LW hyman is RW. I don't think there is anyone out in the free agent market that we should sign over Hyman he is vitally important to this team.

But the leafs have fluidity to there positions. If they both play left move mikeyev onto the right slide whoever on to that 3rd line.
