Add a 3rd round pick as well and we accept, MaxPac is worth more than just a 5th.

Rounding out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mvp13</b></div><div>That's cool. Dowd has 5 points in 26 career playoff games, while Kessel was operating at nearly a point per game in those back to back runs, with 45 points in 49 games. I have no idea where you are drawing this comparison from. But I have no problems keeping this up. Keep hurling insults instead of anything useful : D
I would love Dowd... for our 4th line, which is what he is. Not an insult to him, it's a fact. We already have Goodrow and Bonino for that. Is Dowd better than both of them? Probably, but not by any insane margin. But again, this team is putting him at 3C where he won't excel. Our biggest problem is 5 on 5 scoring, not a bottom 6 defensive forward. This trade doesn't help us.</div></div>
Sorry but Dowd is 5 times better than both bonino and goodrow, if you can’t see that then you are either way too biased or you are blind…

Just Curious...Ive seen you on other ACGMs say Kuzmenko isn't needed by Washington because we have "a lot of Russian wingers" but here you're saying we should accept this trade for Dadonov...who is a Russian winger...So why can't we trade for Kuzmenko because of our russian wingers but somehow are able to when it comes to Dadonov?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sprak</b></div><div>It's more like the Caps don't have any other Right Shot centers in their system that look to be close to the NHL. Milano, Aube-Kubel, TVR, and Jensen are more likely to go in my opinion. Teams need both Right shots and Left shots because they have advantages on their respective sides of the ice at the dot.</div></div>
Actually I think Riley Sutter is ready for that 4C role, I think he could potentially turn into Jay Beagle 2.0. I want to see him actually get a shot at playing there if we trade Dowd for whatever reason or if he gets hurt again.

Year 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SwarmChair</b></div><div>I think Oilers would rather save Broberg for that Wahlstrom deal. Both are former 1st rounders in need of change of scenery. It’s a good match for both teams needs.
Dowd would help the Oilers at 4C. I think asking for a better prospect is reasonable considering he’s signed 2 years. If he was a rental it’s a different story. Assuming Wahlstrom comes in, we may consider letting Lavoie loose as they are both RWs, but he’s currently tearing up the AHL and is likely our first call up in injury. So he’s as good a forward prospect that we could move I think. Unless you had someone else in mind.</div></div>
Yeah if Lavoie is added we would accept, but I think we also accept if its one of Petrov, Berezkin or Akey. But I don't see you guys trading away Akey as he's your best defensive prospect currently.

If we are out of the playoffs and nearing the trade deadline the Caps will likely accept, only if you add a better prospect than Chiasson. He doesn't really do anything for us.

Or bring up Riley Sutter and give him a real shot at that 4C role because I honestly think he could be Jay Beagle 2.0

Capitals All 25 and Under
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NoVaSpartan</b></div><div>Thankfully that seemed to be a no-lose situation. I like the potential of Stevenson quite a bit but having that top tier goalie prospect would be nice. Though then again, Washington has developed Samsonov, Vanecek, Grubauer, Holtby, Varlamov, even Neuvirth and Copley into being decent enough goalies to have long NHL careers, so maybe they can do the same with Stevenson and Gibson.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Otto_Kirov</b></div><div>Man I was hoping they'd get one of Gajan, Hrabal, or Augustine at the draft to restock the goalie cupboard with some more projected guys. But I can't argue with taking Cristall over them.</div></div>
Yeah drafting Cristall was a no brainer to me as well but I definitely see us drafting a goalie in the second or third round this upcoming draft. Some interesting names projected in that area, Heil, Vinni, Kirsch, Yunin to name a few. Kirsch being my favorite right now.

I'm not many caps fans, I am totally okay with using a second round pick to offload Mantha...I am actually aware that he currently holds no value and if we were to trade him (with no retention) its going to cost us. But I don't think GMBM will want to do that.

Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Why do people keep insisting they're retooling. Everyone is trying to half-a their rebuild. Ovy has like 2 good years left. Do you really think they'll be competitive next year or the year after? If so, why? No great prospects. All of their good players are over 30. Unless the Caps hit the draft lottery, they will need a firm rebuild.
At least when Vancouver fans say it's a retool, they can fall back on their best players are under 25. Washington can make no such claim.</div></div>
Maybe because Brian MacLellan promised Ovi we were not going to rebuild as long as he is a Capital...We can easily contend next year, as we will likely have Wilson, Backstrom, and Carlson for the whole year (fingers crossed) and not have them be missing with injuries for a long period of time. There is also two things called free agency and trading where, get this, you can improve your team by acquiring players and make it so you can actually contend...
But, Do I think we will be successful with Ovis last few years? No, but that is not gonna stop the caps from trying to contend.
