Duchene has maybe 1 more good contract in him before he starts declining. I don’t see him taking that much of a discount, not if he keeps going the way he has this year. He’s on pace to put up 30 goals and nearly 80 points this year. You’re not getting him for $3M, regardless of what Nashville is still paying him.
You’re looking at a MINIMUM of $6M AAV on a 2-3 year deal to re-sign Duchene, and that’s if he takes a discount to stay in Dallas. And with the cap going up to $87.5M next year, Dallas can still afford him. I’m just saying that you’re not going to get him as cheap as $3M
