Klingberg deserves to be in the top 100... despite all the hate he gets on this site... Rielly is also very underrated

Top 100 Defensemen
From the Canucks
Quinn Hughes in the 5-10 range
Hronek is probably somewhere in the 40-60 range
Cole or Soucy could maybe be near the lower end of the list, but not sure if they would make it in the end

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike7856</b></div><div>Underrated on Ottawa would probably be Zub. Really solid defensive Dman, rarely out of position just a real steady player. Overrated would probably be Chabot but not by much, would want to see what he does with less minutes not wearing him down. Brannstrom is also sneaky good as well, just needs to produce more offensively but things seemed to click last year in the 2nd half of the season. Don’t think he’d be in top 100 though maybe towards the back half if anything. Defensive game really took a big upswing for him. Sandersons a beast but probably shouldn’t be rated too high this year, will likely take a big jump after this year. Chychrun is pretty good as well, haven’t seen much but liked what I saw.</div></div>
I like Sanderson in the 50-65 range this year. Probably top 30 by end of season

Swap Geekie and Frederic. Geek is far better suited for center/playmaker and Freddy for more suited for power forward wing/net front guy.
Oh, and Wotherspoon is an AHL body/org depth guy. He does not make the roster.

He has 6 inches in Grizz, but only 5lbs. They put up similar offensive numbers and hits. Sanheim blocks more shots. Grizz is elite 5x5.
He’s barely an upgrade over Grizz, at twice the cost.
Cap alone makes it a non starter. Paying 3 times what he is worth puts it over the top.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>Don't think the Bruins have any interest in Rutta because of how much $ he's making and I think there are better options than Desmith to be our backup.
Hall for a 2nd probably works, although it's just really hard to gauge how much he's actually worth</div></div>
The Bruins are in a tight spot and would likely have to move him and the Pens should be looking to move on from Rutta and DeSmith but they don't have to be in the same deal and they don't have to go to Boston. Looking at this, I need to go back to the drawing board because I think Domi is going to get a bit more (probably closer to $5M AAV) which makes Hall impossible. My goal was a somewhat high end LW from a team that is desperate that would only cost about $4M against the cap. Also ideally moving on from some players that are somewhat redundant for the team I put together.

DeBrusk is more than a 3rd line winger. He literally played on the top line part year and started his career in the 2nd line.

Very different cap situations though. We should be able to agree on that. I'm not saying FC's is all you'll get, but SUPER weak goalie market too (for trade value) Gibson, Buck, potentially Saros and lots of UFAs.

As I said in the description, I'd expect them to give him a deal, one way or another. If it did go to arbitration they'd probably even be better accepting whatever the arbitrator gives and then trade him with a deal in place (as long as it's not absurd which it shouldn't be as you rightly say) to at least get something back for him. They wouldn't get full value with the position they're in however they traded him (were they to do so) but it's just the predicament they're in. This was merely a case of IF the speculation ended up being true then the Avs should be in there as quick as possible.

He's definitely getting a qualifying offer. No chance Bruins let him walk for free. Whether he files for arbitration and/or is traded is the question.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CakeEaterBanks</b></div><div>Carlo has been in trade rumours for years. There’s gotta be some merit to it.
Also to your point they’re getting back a young RHD. Timmins was on a 50 point pace on Toronto unfortunately we had a coach and GM too attached to Holl to give Timmins the playing time he earned.
I do agree that they’ll ask Hall (has an NMC) to be traded, Rielly will be bought out and Forbort is more than likely staying.
You also have to remember the Boston needs to sign a 1 line centre and 2nd line centre. That just my 2 cents defending the trade.</div></div>
No he hasn’t. Everybody on here wants to trade for him. That’s not rumors.
Many teams have tried, B’s refuse to move him. Not rumor, fact. Boston has never shopped him or been close to trading him.
He was the deal breaker when they and the Avs talked about Landy after Carlo’s rookie year. He was the deal breaker for Horvat this year. And the deal breaker on everything in betwen.
There are 6 guys B’s will move for cap space. Carlo isn’t one of them.
Once that sinks in…go look at their current depth chart. See who is #3 RD in the org…ready…Mitch Miller, ya that Mitch Miller, or Ryan Mast, a 5th round pick whose ceiling is spare part and is still in jrs.
Now go look at RHD in free agency. Save you the trouble…pretty FNing thin. Carlo isn’t going to be moved unless they are blown away, or it fills a top 6 center slot immediately with a long term asset.
Oh, ya his NTC kicks in too. So…

Not the same situation or player, but look at how much Jeannot got at the deadline. Not saying Frederic can get that much, but those type of players are highly valued throughout the league and I'd say Jeannot and Freddy have similar skill sets (if anything, Freddy is a better, more well-rounded player)</div></div>
You gotta go to Tampa and ask for every single one of their 2026 picks for Frederic

Plus, they're all Boston born players coming back in the trade.</div></div>
They have bodies in Providence. They can clear out a quick $5 million in additional cap space by buying out Forbort & Reilly. The guys you're sending back don't fill a need. Boston has too many LW as it is and we're looking to move LHD because we have to many. On top of all that this deal has Boston taking on more cap space....while creating a hole at RHD amd making their team worse.

No problem. Don’t want him anyway. Grizz is better than Fabbro. Boston has to many LD and not enough RD. Only reason it works. Rather trade Grizz for pick and clear cap space. Sign a cheap 3rd pair RD. Hopefully Don has learned his lesson and stops paying 3rd pair D men more than 1.5. 🤷🏻♂️
