I really liked heineman at the draft, similar to lehkonen
We might have three firsts so that’s nice
People had their hopes way to high for a better return than this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>It isn't close as proposed. You have Montreal taking a player that has little to no value to them (Monahan) and adds cap, while giving up two 3rds and a 4th. Pitlick doesn't impact the value at all. This is Toffoli plus picks for Pelletier.
Tatar was a tool for cap mitigation where he luckily rebounded. That's best case for Monahan and not a likely outcome.
When you say Pelletier and a 2nd that's what I said. It involves the extra step of retaining and flipping Monahan to make that happen however. That's closer.
Calgary taking care of Monahan separately, or a 3-way where he just passes through (basically a guarantee we will indeed get a 2nd from another team), is what I see as reasonable.
I still don't consider Pelletier an attractive target, but I already conceded that he's a piece of value in my first sentence.</div></div>
wondering why you don't like Pelletier, he's a point per game player in the ahl with some pretty good skill, I believe its because he's slightly undersized? I tend to like bigger players but if we got Pelletier I wouldn't be upset
as for Monahan, he had 5 very good seasons in a row for Calgary and is only 3 seasons removed from 20 goals. To me getting him and playing him in the top 6 hoping he finds some chemistry and bounces back is much more valuable than a 2nd. If at the deadline he's on pace for 20 goals you could easily get a second for him and if he doing better you could get a first.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>Not even close.
Pelletier is the only piece of value to Montreal and that's only IF he can handle C at the NHL level as an undersized player on a roster that already projects to feature two undersized players in the top 6 for the foreseeable future (or up to 4-5 in the top 9 from existing prospects/players).
If you assume Montreal is retaining 50% on Monahan and flipping him for at least a 2nd, perhaps it's closer. Have to remove all the picks coming from Montreal to start with.</div></div>
just because you have concerns for the prospect in the trade doesn't mean it isn't close. Pelletier is a high end prospect and you're getting a Tatar esque player where maybe he could play really well for you next season and you flip him at the deadline for something solid. Toffoli is good but he's not elite. A top prospect like Pelletier and maybe a second is what your getting. it is a very good value trade for the Habs but you could go target another prospect if you like

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>At least you are honestly when it comes to Chiarots value. I still think it’s crazy giving a first for him. Definitely wouldn’t do that. But, Edmundson only worth a second? I think his value may be higher.</div></div>
Not saying he’s is or isn’t worth a first but big physical defence man who just went to the finals and played fantastic in the playoffs, not that crazy to think why teams want him and are willing to part with a first if the rumours are correct.
Good teams also moved firsts like their nothing
Maple leafs for foligno
Tampa for savard and another for goodrow(Blake Coleman was worth his)

Montreal has there own first pick
I think your top 8 is pretty spot on. couple of interesting picks like Slafkovsky that low and belluz that high. McGraortys skating is so weak that I don't love having him in the top 10
besides that this is pretty solid. I do also like that you haven't kicked Lambert of the face of the earth like a lot have.

I still like Bedard slightly ahead of mitchkov. Fantilli seems like a top 3 player and Leo Carlson top 5 if not top 10 , he's 6'3 playing in the shl and a draft minus one and has a **** ton of skill. this draft looks to be awesome if everyone keeps up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFox23</b></div><div>Just not guys I am high on. And I think players from the US development program have often gotten overrated. Few, outside of Matthews and Kane, have actually had success. And yet every year, people like to take a ton in first round. Even the ones that make it to NHL seem to average. Just go down the list, year by year, and you'll see what I am talking about.</div></div>
I agree that they get overhyped a lot, but to say few outside of Matthews and kane is not true
Your account is named after a usdp player, eichel, Seth Jones, werenski, kessel, jt Miller, both hughes, both tkuchuks, Troy terry,Larkin, zegras, mcavoy, noris,Keller, saad,Fowler, trouba, jvr to name a few
I think your over punishing usdp players like cooley and over hyping some Europe’s like yurov. Yurov is not a top 5 player and Cooley shouldn’t be outside of 10 as a start imo

small reset - hard to get UFAs
you can't not attract free agents and do a quick reset. A quick reset would be head out and sign hertl or Giroux and pick up a top 4 lhd. the in between bull**** is the killer. go get Giroux and Chychrun(as an example) or rebuild
next year we should either target Bedard or the cup

future is bright if Mr Gorton can draft and develop well and take advantage of having some decent players to trade for a solid return like Chiarot and Toffoli. I think if things go right this can be a prerenial playoff team but the time Gallagher and anderson's contracts are up

Chiarot for a first is just dumb. I don’t see many GMs trading that for him unless they are a contender. He’s not good enough to get that type of return.</div></div>
I think some team thinking chiarot can get them the cup will give the first, like tampa and savard last year
For eddy as I said above muzzin got a first and two prospects. At this point I probably would rather the first than lavoie. 3 playoff runs with eddy should be at least a first and a little more. Gm’s tend to move firsts quite easily for good players

Tearing it down doesn’t mean you trade everyone over 25 yo</div></div>
Tearing it down means acquiring a lot of picks and prospects to build around. You can go out in free agency and grab a nice veteran lhd if you want. If a nice trade for edmunson comes around I think you’d be stupid not to take it. Jake muezzin got a first and two prospects and edmunson has an extra year

thinking outside the Box
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>2 1sts and a 2nd dude you think way to high of him.
this is what he was dealt for from LA to Vancouver 2 years ago.
Tim Schaller · $1,900,000
Tyler Madden · $0 (AHL/JR) (Signing Rights)
2020 2nd round pick (VAN - #51 - Theodor Niederbach)
2022 4th round pick (VAN) [Conditional]*
Tyler madden is looking OK and Tim Schaller wasn't even resigned
so in essence a 3rd round prospect a 2nd and a 4th.
I'm offering a former 1st a 3rd and a 1st because he is signed longer term.</div></div>
I’d probably accept the deal above. Although your saying 2 firsts but ozzy was the last pick of the first round and isn’t doing the best this year. You could easily make the argument that ozzy is valued at a 2 rounder. So a first 2 and 3 is the trade, which is think is pretty fair for toffoli

I’m thinking the exact same thing. We wend picking Wright and he doesn’t turn out. Although I don’t quite agree with the compete part, even when he’s struggling he still puts in the effort defensively. There’s just something off this year
That being said I’m torn as I still really like savoie lambert and Miroshnichenko. If we could get a top 3 or 4 pick next year than grabbing nemec/jiricek is perfectly fine

Trades to get us into the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>I wouldn’t say he is a perfect hitter, but he is solid defensively. He’s not one to get a lot of points. He is just a good all around guy, but especially in the defensive end. He can definitely block shots, throws a few hits but not a lot. I like him, and I think he’s a good player. I personally would like to keep him, but for these guys, I would trade him.</div></div>
Would you remove him and replace the second with a first? And I completely understand your side which is avoiding giving up the first and you seem to understand my side which is trying to get that first as that could be a nice piece for us moving forward. Our draft is at home and that being our second pick maybe we could swing for the fence
Again it’s possible I’m overvaluing my teams players just a bit as all fans do, but if I’m giving up a good top 4 d who you guys would love for the playoffs and could resign plus a good top 6 winger on a value contract, I’m trying to get into my comfort zone which is savoie who is solid but not great plus a first
Anyways no matter what this is a solid trade and I’m probably being a bit fussy about the return, just have savoie and that first in my head
