Didn’t need retention as I corrected myself in the Brown trade. Carrier is also expiring.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>If NSH can swing a Barrie trade, they'll need their final retention spot for him - not Carrier.
With NSH retaining and having to take Ceci, this isn't a good deal for the Preds. They should easily be able to get a 2nd for Carrier, without retaining or taking a less than desirable contract back.</div></div>
Oh yeah I’m aware. That’s why I corrected myself with the Brown trade because we didn’t actually need to retain on Carrier if we just dumped Brown.

They don't. Desharnais is the other half of one of the league's best 3rd pairing. Unless you blow Edmonton away with an offer, he's not getting moved.

The Clapback after Lindholm trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Ceci has the lowest corsica for and the highest 5v5 GA% of ALL OILER dmen.

Ceci is having a down year, yet he still has a better on-ice shot attempts against than per 60 than Clifton, Dahliin, Power, and Johnson. The same xGA as Power and better than Clifton and Johnson. Nonetheless, Ceci would be a better partner for Power than Jokharju is. But if you really believe he isn't, then that's fine. Agree to disagree.

Yeah thats the problem. Our prospects are having a rough first years in the AHL after ripping up their respective junior teams. But yeah, if it comes to a prospect-off, we're not winning the bidding war.

The Clapback after Lindholm trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Realistically, Jake isn't going anywhere, but as far as Jake offers go, there's something to this one at least. I'm not sure how I feel about Broberg; he looks to be a bust territory, but I don't think we're far off here.
I think if you swapped out Broberg for a different prospect we're getting close.</div></div>
Broberg isn't a bust at all. He's not the 8th overall pick that he was made out to be for sure, but not a bust. The Oilers just haven't utilized him/given him the chance by playing him as a 7th D with only 8 mins every night. Currently cooking the AHL. There's still a top 4 D there, just not on the Oilers and he has much better upside than Hunter Brus-something which is who I compared to in the Lindholm trade because that trade kind of sets the market for players like Guentzel. If that isn't enough, I guess we'd have to throw in Bourgault over Savoie.

It's similar to what Lindholm fetched, that's what I was referencing for this trade. Except the conditional 4th upgraded to a 2nd to make up for the gap. Probably Bourgault over Savoie if Pens want a better offer or something.

Jiricek Jenner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Oh my god we're back to the Jenner discussion too.
It's absolutely missing another 1st and high end prospect. Arguably it's missing a 1st and <em><strong>A</strong></em> high end prospect, on top of Bourgault.
Jenner = 1st, 2nd, A-level prospect. Anything less and we'll just keep our 2C captain on one of the best deals in the league, or at least find another team.
(You really think Colorado, a team exactly one 2C and a backup goalie from the closest thing we've seen to hockey perfection in a while, wouldn't absolutely launch a 1st, 2nd, and Ritchie out the door for 3 cracks at a Cup with Jenner at $3.75M, especially if it means a team like Edmonton doesn't get him?).
Jiricek = Top-5 pick or U23 1RD. Anything less and we'll just keep our guy who will absolutely be 1RD before he's 23.
(You really think Toronto, a team with a dire need for cheap RD, wouldn't absolutely launch a 1st, 2nd, Cowan, +++ out the door to have Jiricek on his ELC for 3 years, and likely forever after that?).
Lets get real here. We've got enough middling prospects and filler players. We need quality, and we have that in Jenner and Jiricek. If you're getting <em>both</em>, you're sending us Draisaitl.</div></div>
Jenner for a 1st, 2nd and an A level prospect? Bro, Chicago got less for 40 goal scorer DeBrincat from Ottawa and that's nearly what Eichel's return was lmao. That's a crazy thing to say. He's defintely only worth a 1st, maybe a 2nd (probably a 3rd), and a B level prospect. This is Boone Jenner, not Mark Schiefele.
But you're right about Jiricek's value, yeah. I also never said he's going go to Edmonton for that value, but I thought you were implying that he fetches a 1st and a high end prospect when Jiricek is only a high end prospect, not a generational one. So if a high end prospect is in play, all you're going to get is a 1 for 1 or maybe a sweetner along with the high end prospect for Jiricek. Why would anyone need to give up more than that. It's a high end prospect for a high end prospect.

It is absolutely not missing another 1st and a high end prospect lol. A 1st+ for Jenner is enough. A high end prospect would just mean a 1 for 1 for Jiricek. He isnt generational enough to get more than a 1 for 1 with another high end prospect lol.

Holland TDL Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Sure it was. He has a history of paying 1st+ for good players with term, irrespective of their age. That was a classic Holland move.
However, he has NEVER traded a 1st for a rental. Ever.
And he's had Ceci play 1st pairing for 3 years now, and when he's making just $3.25M you don't give that away for a 3rd.
And while he may go for Duclair, he won't add Janmark to the offer. Janmark is playing very good defensive hockey and has a key role on the PK.</div></div>
Good point on him never trading a 1st for a rental but they could always be signed. Tanev is a nice asset and aging so he's not going to ask for a raise.
Ceci is a 2nd pairing D. Ekholm-Bouchard pairing has been the 1st pair ever since Ekholm came. If he can get more for Ceci, ****ing great. But it's mostly just to get rid of the 3M because in his words, its "dollar in, dollar out"

They could still flip Foegele at the same deadline for a 2nd easily. If not, he'd be a great winger for Bedard because he's a dogg, he'll do the dirty work for him. And the hawks would also accept a Ceci for Murphy trade in a heartbeat. Both players are pretty much the same but Ceci has a year less on his deal, cheaper, and doesn't have an NMC like Murphy does.
