Sure it was. He has a history of paying 1st+ for good players with term, irrespective of their age. That was a classic Holland move.

However, he has NEVER traded a 1st for a rental. Ever.

And he's had Ceci play 1st pairing for 3 years now, and when he's making just $3.25M you don't give that away for a 3rd.

And while he may go for Duclair, he won't add Janmark to the offer. Janmark is playing very good defensive hockey and has a key role on the PK.

Good point on him never trading a 1st for a rental but they could always be signed. Tanev is a nice asset and aging so he's not going to ask for a raise.

Ceci is a 2nd pairing D. Ekholm-Bouchard pairing has been the 1st pair ever since Ekholm came. If he can get more for Ceci, ****ing great. But it's mostly just to get rid of the 3M because in his words, its "dollar in, dollar out"
