<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frasier_Crane</b></div><div>it doesn't make sense because the jackets would still be losing over 1.5 mill a season for the first 3 years. why would they do that? to save 900k the last 3 seasons? the math doesn't add up.</div></div>
Yeah in hindsight I realised that I made an oversight with that. Colorado aren't pressed for capspace so maybe just remove the retention altogether. Or make it something like 900k instead. 900k for the first 3 seasons is better than 481k for 3 seasons + 900k for 3 seasons.

You went through a lot of work to make this thread... and to be fair I like his place on that line. However, there's no way CBJ will be retaining that much if anything on him for 3 years. I'd argue Kamanev is almost valueless right now too, so the package to get him would be higher (especially if there's retention). Jost+

Realistic 22 NYR Patience
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frasier_Crane</b></div><div>imo, the team had more problems with their forwards playing defense rather than their defenders.</div></div>
yeah I looked at the tape. It's pretty much entirely the system. You might've noticed this too and if you haven't already you will now. Quinn has F1 and F2 play aggressive forecheck past the circles, with F3 at the offensive blue line. The problem is that the instead of the defenders hanging in the neutral zone to clog puck movement and prevent zone entries, he has the Defenders drop back into their own zone and often don't even engage until they're at the top of the circles.
This means that all you have to do is beat F3 and you have the ENTIRE neutral zone to gain speed as you enter the zone. It's entirely the structure of the transition defense and it is objectively terrible. Most Ranger goals against happen in transition and this is mainly why.

I think Chicago takes that deal and runs. I think FLA declines because of Denisenko’s potential.

Setting Up the core for 21-22 and on BUF CGY ARI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frasier_Crane</b></div><div>there is no denying both miller and lundkvist upside. in my opinion quinn hasn't done a great job developing the kids. lundkvist has 3 seasons of playing in a pro league. i can definitely see him making the team and getting legit mins. i don't want to see miller playing 10 mins a game and not put in situations to succeed. confidence is such a huge part of the game at his age.</div></div>
Miller is a North American kid who has size and skates well. That checks all 3 boxes Quinn usually uses for giving out playing time. I think he probably gets around 15 mins a night, which I think is probably better for him than playing in the AHL. Quinn gave Howden a ton of minutes his 1st year, I can see a similar thing with K'andre. I'm more worried about Lundkvist getting minutes since he's european and smaller. Quinn sucks that we have to worry about this stuff.
Rangers tend to be *too cautious* with their prospects when it comes to playing time. It took Adam Fox 60 games of being by far the best defenseman on the team to get more than 3rd pair minutes and PK time. Despite having like 9 guys under 24 they basically all play in the bottom 6 or bottom pair, even though a lot of them are more talented than the players above them in the lineup. I don't think you put either Miller or Lundkvist in the AHL until they give you a reason to.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frasier_Crane</b></div><div>the rangers RW depth is very deep when we look at it. although, it's a little fools gold at the same time. if fast doesn't re-sign the team is left with buch as their only reliable rw. everyone else hasn't proven they can play top mins yet.</div></div>
...That's what years like this year and next year are for. Development. Leaving someone like Fast (a 4th liner) in your top 6 ensures that your developing players like Kakko, Gauthier and Kravtsov won't have the opportunity to move up the lineup and grow as they need.
It's been a big problem for Quinn as a coach.
<p>The Rangers, on the other hand, do not like to give their young players (good or otherwise) important minutes. <a href="https://t.co/qCXAZruFCD" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">pic.twitter.com/qCXAZruFCD</a></p>— Micah Blake McCurdy (@IneffectiveMath) <a href="https://twitter.com/IneffectiveMath/status/1222552679051943938?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">January 29, 2020</a>

the leafs would probs want fox more then deangelo. Deangelo is more offensively gifted and struggles in his own zone. He could work on a pairing with Muzzin but honestly I think the leafs would rather have an all around RD or a defensive minded RD.

While having Panarin along with Strome and Marner would definitely be one of the best lines in hockey, Marner's AAv is a problem. I'd seriously consider it if I knew that Trouba would bounce back offensively and become the PP quartback he was in WIN

Cost to move from pick 20->8 with pick ~60 added in is another pick 20. So 20 + 20 = 8 + 60 value wise apparently.
I think Buch is worth more than just pick 20... a solid bit more.
And Deangelo >>>> KK

DeAngelo didn't break out until 24 years old. KK is still only 19 years old.
Little early to make that call don't you think?
MTL has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league, they've finished top 5 in several rankings over the past two year. They need high end talent at 8th overall, not more prospect depth by trading down. This is a terrible trade for the habs.

Pretty incomplete narrative here.
Lias put up .5 pts/gm in the AHL for 2 years on 2 of the lowest scoring AHL teams in the league. He had primary contributions on around 20% Of the teams total points as a 20 year old. That puts him in line with what guys like Tolvanen and Kostin have done offensively. Defensively he’s way more of a 2way guy.
Then after outplaying Howden in preseason for the 2nd straight year he gets passed over him in the lineup for the 2nd straight year. (Quinn is like Sutter when it comes to Euro players. Will almost always pick a NA kid whenever possible).
So Lias gets put with AHL level Michael Haley and a stay at home dman on his wing getting about 7 mins a night. And does about as well as anyone could there.
He’s pissed about the whole thing because he’s worked super hard to improve his game and won’t get an actual NHL shot because of the coach.
So he demanded a trade to somewhere he could actual play and get NHL mins because he’s going to be an RFA.
And just to prove he could still play he went to the SHL and put up a point a game as a 21 year old lol
So yeah I’d put his value around mid 2nd.

This year? Not too many- 2 in the KHL, 3 in the AHL. Last year caught about 10 in the KHL.
They seem to play a similar style to my eyes. I can understand how you see it differently. Buch had 3 full seasons in the KHL after his draft year to develop. Kravtsov had 1.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frasier_Crane</b></div><div>kravtsov struggled early on. north american game is much more physical and not as open as the khl. the first game i went to watch him play was the second to last game he played before he went back to the khl. the game igor got his first shut out. kravtsov seriously looked horrible. didn't compete for the puck against the boards. one play i remember i lost the puck and just stared at the guy who stole the puck from him go up the ice.
what made kravtsov so interesting in russia is his ability to move the puck with his high end skill. in the ahl he was pushed off the puck easily. he improved during the season but he still has a LOT of work to do. there is no doubting his skill. he makes flashy plays look easy, but i have doubts on his ability to produce offense in the nhl. kravtsov needs to show he can be a top 6 forward in the nhl. he doesn't have the game to play bottom line mins.
some more time in the ahl is going to be good for him. he improved his defensive play. he still isn't winning puck battles but he is smart. positions himself well. he isn't want we all thought he was before this season but he still has a lot of promise.</div></div>
Yah I was wondering how his development is going and if a trade between him and Puljujärvi would be fair, which I think it is very fair. Kevin Woodley on the Jason Gregor show said Shesterkin is so amazing and by the end of next year will be the best goalie in the NHL
