I mean If Reinhart is that much better....I'd be happy to accept more in a trade, whether that's Mangiapane, or a higher pick, or something like that, But the point is to get a cost controlled, young LHD and not to keep Reinhart because on this team NYR are pretty much set at RW/C long term.

well if you prefer, Trouba played a bunch of LHD in Winnipeg.

But he's a solid better option than the other RHD that Buff has.

Miller was oft a healthy scratch last season, Joker still needs time to develop and Risto is trash....

Trouba + Dahlin as a top pair for the next 6 years is a pretty solid idea.

Most likely, Risto gets dealt for a winger, Joker settles into a 2nd pair role that's a lot easier for him and Miller is on the 3rd pair.

Sabres don't make that trade. Insane overpay. Sabres don't need or want Trouba. We have our own overrated and overpaid defenseman in Ristolainen. Don't need a 2nd one.

Thankfully Zibanejad doesn't waive to go to Buffalo so this all falls apart regardless. Awful effort.

did you just compare Risto and Trouba?!

hahahahahah. There was one true thing here and that it's that Zibanejad probably doesn't waive to go to Buff.

Though, considering that you thought Thompson and Mittelstadt and a couple of 1sts was enough for Barkov, this kind of response was to be expected from you.

i'm just going to step over those trades...

let's wait to see miller in preseason before we start putting him in the lineup, especially the top 4.

the idea of CBO hank is to open cap space. if the team isn't going to use it there is no point to use the cbo. the only player that has a realistic chance of hitting their bonuses is igor.

The point of the d pairs is to put a veteran with a rookie. As opposed to just putting 2 rookies on the 3rd pair. Also matching a more defensive player with an offensive one. I think very highly of Miller AND Lundkvist. His defensive play at Wisconsin was awesome.

do you think a year in Hartford would be beneficial to both Miller and Lundkvist?

there is no denying both miller and lundkvist upside. in my opinion quinn hasn't done a great job developing the kids. lundkvist has 3 seasons of playing in a pro league. i can definitely see him making the team and getting legit mins. i don't want to see miller playing 10 mins a game and not put in situations to succeed. confidence is such a huge part of the game at his age.

Miller is a North American kid who has size and skates well. That checks all 3 boxes Quinn usually uses for giving out playing time. I think he probably gets around 15 mins a night, which I think is probably better for him than playing in the AHL. Quinn gave Howden a ton of minutes his 1st year, I can see a similar thing with K'andre. I'm more worried about Lundkvist getting minutes since he's european and smaller. Quinn sucks that we have to worry about this stuff.

Rangers tend to be *too cautious* with their prospects when it comes to playing time. It took Adam Fox 60 games of being by far the best defenseman on the team to get more than 3rd pair minutes and PK time. Despite having like 9 guys under 24 they basically all play in the bottom 6 or bottom pair, even though a lot of them are more talented than the players above them in the lineup. I don't think you put either Miller or Lundkvist in the AHL until they give you a reason to.
