Dallas and Minnesota Fans
With respect to Dallas, Vegas tried to play fast and heavy against a faster and heavier group of guys. Dallas was able to avoid the post whistle scrums Vegas likes so much. Attribute that to a veteran group and guys not shying away during gameplay (ie Klingberg on Reaves). Got some great goaltending from Khudobin, but the system and style of the games suppressed a number of quality chances.
Vegas was likely the best matchup for Dallas last year of all postseason teams because they tried to play the same game, just not as well. St. Louis would have topped the Stars in a WCF had they made it. Dallas likely would have lost to Calgary in round 1 had Tkachuk not missed time, IMO.

I think Bowness should be thrown in jail for the way he handicaps him.
If he really wants out, I would hope they could agree to sign for 3 to keep RFA status and work together on a trade. Keep his value as high as possible but allow him to have some input for the concession.

You think Miro dislikes Dallas so much that he and his agent push for becoming a UFA the first year possible?

I see Heiskanen signing a similar deal than Barzal. He will want to wait until de Cap goes up again.
I am also unsure if he wants to be in Dallas long term. The way we play does and the role he has, does not give him the opportunity to unleash his offensive talents.
At 5 on 5, he is playing tons of minutes with our garbage line of Faksa-Comeau-Cogliano. Not a lot of offensive opportunities playing with those offensive black hole.
Heiskanen will get a 5 year deal anywhere from 9 - 10 mil. Market value says he will given his minutes, his production, his usage. Not to mention inflation. It's a 5 year deal because that gets him to 27 and he's still a RFA. Meaning you can then sign him to an 8 year deal to get him to 35. It's all about keeping his rights with Dallas and not letting him go UFA. He has no leverage right now so the 5 year deal is pretty much going to happen. He and his agent will take what they can get and likely will be a hefty pay day. He also doesn't have arbitration yet but if Dallas wants to see him become the defender they think he will be in 2 - 3 years you offer him more money. hence my 5 year 9.5 mil deal. He likely gets 8 years and 11 mil after that. So that's 13 years at 10.5 mil. The cap will rise eventually and he's the player to build this team on.</div></div>
Yeah 5 years would make him a UFA. Already has 3 accrued seasons.

This right here is such an overlooked issue with the current roster and system. His ice time is decimated by FCC, PP2, and Oleksiak always wanting to pinch and push leaving Miro to fall back. It is almost criminal the ways in which he is utilized. I hate to say it, but if things stay the course I would almost rather Klingberg leave to force the hand of making Heiskanen "the guy." Regardless, I hope his agent tells them to kick rocks when negotiating.

Cup Team Offseason
I do not think this team beats a better Colorado, Vegas, or St. Louis. And we know for certain this team does not have a chance against Tampa.
Not sure why the popular opinion is that a team that is getting significantly older (and much slower) can maybe make a cinderella run again and then be completely overmatched in a finals series.

I am all about these moves. I think Radulov in Miami is a perfect hockey and lifestyle fit. I am captain of the Lindell must go ship, and think Vancouver is the best spot for him but I am not sure if the two parties could set aside their differences for this one. I guess you're assuming Gaglardi sells though, which I also believe needs to happen.
Maybe I am one of the few, but I think we already caught lightning in a bottle and our best was not nearly good enough. If we do not act now before Benn is a $9.5MM 4th liner, Seguin naturally regresses more due to everything, and the young guys are still cheap, the Stars are in for a long next ~5 years.

Yeah just assuming Tortorella stays, Laine makes it known he's done, and Jones is gone when his contract runs up. Obviously a wishlist from the outside looking in, but not a terrible return for Laine if that happens. Lindell fits the system and can play the other side if need be.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>I wouldn’t swap Guri for Laine one for one. Guri is cheaper and isn’t useless without the puck
And Pavs is a ppg player with no term remaining. I’d imagine he’s worth quite a bit more than that. Especially since if we’re trading guys like him retaining wouldn’t be an issue which just makes him even more appealing</div></div>
I wouldn't either because there is no way to make that $ work. Still think a true goal scorer is needed, and Laine>>>Gurianov. I think Laine would fit in well here, and whatever slack Laine brings could be absorbed. Yeah, see above. I undervalued just to make a point about the deal. Retaining some $ and getting more return would be the likely scenario.

Also sorry about that horrible gazillion-car accident on the freeway. My wife's last husband (here in Hollywood we can actually say that) was an oil man from Ft. Worth named Bobby Harding.
Arizona has no experienced RDs under contract for 2021-2022, so they might be interested in Klingberg. But they're rebuilding, and I don't see them trading prospects (they haven't got more than two) or draft picks (they're underweight there, too) to a division rival.</div></div>
Thank you, it was and is a horrific tragedy. People don’t seem to understand we have no clue what to do down here, because it happens once a century.
God bless Texas oil. I’ve spent years in FW and went to school there. Love the place but also love Dallas, please don’t tell anyone though.
For all the things I dislike within the Dallas org, the whole no intra-division and often no intra-conference trade is something I LOVE. I’d love to send Lindell to Ottawa or Detroit before his clause kicks in.

I don't see what we have that you need and would want in exchange for either, particularly in an expansion-draft year. With our success at the head of each of the last two drafts, we aren't about to trade our 2021 first, and short of one of our excess young LWs and one of our excess young LDs, what have we got to offer?</div></div>
I’ve been in the distance, observing.
I’m of the minority and very unpopular in the DFW, that I think we should get what we can for Klingberg and Lindell before FA and the NMC kick in. I don’t think this team (even full health) is a winner.
Just seeing if anyone would hint at what they think either is worth to their team. Personally, I think an overvalued Lindell for Dadanov or so is well worth it. Klingberg is where I’m struggling for around the league value. I believe Miro is significantly more skilled and the stars are managing the future cap by splitting ice time.

That contract duration sucks and we'll have many young guns making the roster either this year or next. A new wave of youth is about to hit Dallas. By the time these contracts of Rads, Pavs, Cogs, Comeau are up, we'll have money to give to them. In 3 years both goalies will be done and Otter and Point should already be incorporated in the mix. If you want to get some scoring, go out and get a guy in his prime to be a leader, like a Toffoli type guy.</div></div>
Many as in Dellandrea and or Robertson? The cupboard is bare after them. Nill gave away draft picks like candy and the ones held onto are rotting away in Europe.
When the those older contracts are up you’re going she paying an even older Benn and Seguin $9+ to be 2nd line guys. Klingberg may very well demand north of $7 and we legitimately may not be able to hang onto him. The window is slamming shut.
The playoff run was fun and all but they lost, and now are in a pretty bad position due to Nill’s gross mismanagement of the roster and assets.

In terms of cap space this move is minus 5,7M$ for Dallas and loss of draft picks.
In terms of hockey contribution it’s pretty debatable that Rads contribution is probably equivalent to Zuch’s.</div></div>
Because I remember watching Hintz and Zuch work together and have seen enough of Radulov to know what he does and doesn’t bring to the table.
With Seguin out you have to find offense somewhere. I’ve seen Hintz and Gurianov handicapped by slow line mates too many times. They need to run.
The entire western conference got better today. We got another day older and slower.

Don't understand why everybody is putting Seguin on their trading blocks, he's their 1C and they will lose any trade involving him. I wouldn't be too shocked by Benn, but not for at least a couple of seasons. And Pavelski and Rads aren't going anywhere unless Seattle wants one, they have been offensive drivers and I expect they'll have much better regular seasons next year.</div></div>
I’m not shopping Klingberg because I don’t like his game. I think he’s as valuable a piece as any on the team.
He’s going to be a UFA here soon and he’s going to get paid. With Miro and the other young guys also needing money, an unknown future cap, and some heavy contracts, I think it may not hurt to see if you can make your team better.
Pavelski and Radulov may or may not have good seasons next year (much depends on who the coach will be) but the impact they have on the rest of the roster is too negative. Radulov is too slow and the penalty’s. Pavelski is too slow and too weak. We saw what happened when Gurianov Hintz and Kiviranta were put on the same line. Whenever we mix the old and slow with young and fast we get lines that have no identity whatsoever.
It is just a terribly constructed roster that ran into some good fortune. Either the front office recognizes that or the team (and younger players) won’t see full potential in Dallas.

Thoughts on the final? I felt like I'd try to bring some more TBL and DAL fans to this thread tonight.</div></div>
Didn’t watch tonight.
I have been a huge opponent of the Nill / Bowness regime for a while. I still don’t think either of them have done an awesome job. Colorado wasn’t ready to play Dallas all year and Dallas bullies better than Vegas. Nonetheless, they are in the finals...
I don’t know what’s going on with Seguin and Heiskanen, but it’s been a disappointing big stage for those guys. You could rightfully argue we wouldn’t be here without Miro, but not Seguin. I’m shocked we won tonight, but equally shocked those guys have invisible throughout these 5 games.
All in all, TB has been better and I expect them to win Monday. The officiating has been horrendous on both sides. And the Stanley cup finals stands no chance vs college football in the south.

Arrogance would be me stating that Dallas would unequivocally beat any team in the league that is already out in a playoff series. They’ve struggled with a healthy St Louis over the last 24 months. St. Louis is the reigning “best team in the league.” I can comfortably say that over the past 12-24 months they have been better than Dallas.
I can say with confidence that over 12 months Dallas has proven to be a better team than Colorado and Vegas. Two teams that they have proven over the course of 12 months they are better than by way of beating one team 67% of the time and another 63%.

Nothing to do with Dallas; they weren't at the level of STL/COL/VGK during the reg. season, that's my point. Once you advance in the second round, anything can happen (see NYI) and that is what is happening. DAL did beat COL/VGK and deserve to be in the SCF but the other teams were better during most part of the season, that's it. Now go beat Tampa instead than arguing for nothing</div></div>
I can’t imagine a world where a team can get beat by one team 67% of the time over a 12 month span, and still be considered superior. Pretty special.

Dallas beat a team 8 times combined in the regular season which does and or doesn’t matter, and the post season which certainly does not matter unless it does.
They also thoroughly beat a team 4-1 in the playoffs which would have mattered had it been the other way around, but it doesn’t since the team that won “was not the better team in the regular season which matters against all other teams but not in the case of head to head matchups with the two subject teams of comparison.”
