The vision
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canesfan21_</b></div><div>You keep Anderson, the rest of the deal you can change how you want</div></div>
The only way you are getting a top 6 C in Dach and the 5th overall pick from the Habs is rather
1) Jarvis is also in the trade for Necas
2) a lot of picks coming back and Cans take on a bad contract
Necas is an good top 6 option but honestly isn’t that much of an upgrade on Dach ( when healthy I think Dach is actually better than Necas just health concerns are there)

Dallas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lowblocksniper</b></div><div>He might've been unhappy with the team\play but, they did right by him and traded him to Dallas which helped him. The Habs could do it again with another team
Not everything is a straight dump, the world isn't black and white (Vancouver got something for Beauvilier and Chicago traded him again for the same return and his salary was higher than both players).
Dadonov at the very least would get the Habs a pick at the deadline, Faksa is more iffy because of his salary.</div></div>
That is true, I just don't see the real gain from the Habs here as the RHD isn't a strength in the system so trading a 22 year old RHD doesn't make sense. If habs trade Baron I see more of a hockey trade then a pick trade
I also just think Dadanov will have them on his NT list based on he probably wants to win and knows Habs time frame isn't now.

Dallas
Dadonov has a NTC and I think Habs would be on it from when he was in Montreal he wasn't very happy
Even without that Barron is worth the late first himself so Habs take on 2 cap dumps for 2 3rd round picks and give up a 4th?
I just don't think this trade is able to be worked out

Offseason Blueprint
I don’t see the Habs trade working. Habs don’t have an extreme amount of depth on RD their problem is the amount of LD. If it is a prospect swap something more in line with Harris or Struble would work but even then a small forward isn’t what they are looking for so it will probably be a pass

Keeping the rebuild going
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>Assuming by this year you mean 2024/25, they have 19 players signed with $5.9m in caps space which could be more if they move Gus for futures and go with Wallstedt's ELC in his place. Habs don't need a goalie and don't have a player that would match the rumored ask for Rossi which is who the Wild are open to moving. The Wild need a depth dman (probably either Chisholm or a rookie that wins the spot in camp) and a veteran winger (rumor is they want to sign Perron for 1 year) along with some league minimum healthy scratches. None of their needs are things you address with pick 13 (or even pick 16 or 27). There isn't a counter to make.
Again, the Wild's cap situation isn't a problem for the roster they've constructed next year and after that, it gets a little better with the buyouts dropping significantly.</div></div>
Thank you, this is more of what I trying to get out of some of these replies. I understand sometimes the frustration talking with other fan bases but I understand that I don't know more about the Wilds full situation than the actual fans of the team.
Is there any package in your mind that could lead to the Wild trading back in the first round? I just feel Habs could target one of the forwards that could fall, if there isn't a possible option thats fine was just an idea

Keeping the rebuild going
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>That's the other issue that keeps being overstated by people who can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds to look at their page on this site. Good, bad, or indifferent, Guerin extending all those players at the start of last season largely gave them a predictable cap situation this year and they actually have some money to spend if they want.
It's frustrating how willfully ignorant people choose to be on a site that has all the info they need if they just take some time and look. I know reading is hard, but man, it's always f'n Habs and Leafs fans.</div></div>
Dude just trying to make some trades ment no disrespect would have rather had a discussion on what the Wild could have countered with than this. I mentioned cap space this year not next I emmited the mistake that I thought the pick was later than it actually was and that is my bad I thought it was closer to 16th.

Keeping the rebuild going
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoofyFoFoofy</b></div><div>With the cap going up the Rangers don't need the extra 1.5m in cap space from trading Kakko. They're trying to contend so they'd want a good NHL caliber player coming back (preferably a RW but depends on their needs after the moves theyll make), even better if the player is cost effective, if this means that Kakko will have to be packaged with something else then so be it. Without that you're looking at the value of a late 1st to push this over the line, which sure may be an overpay, but you have to account for what the Rangers want here.</div></div>
Even with the Cap going up currently Rangers have 10.5 mill with 3 RFA to sign, Lindgren, Schneider and Kakko. I expect Ranger would prefer to keep the first 2 mentioned and maybe try to dip into free agent market to improve there forward pool making Kakko expendable.
I do agree that they might pakage him with something to really improve their forwards but I doubt after NYR healthy scratched him in the playoffs a team would be willing to give them top dollar for him

Keeping the rebuild going
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayTea</b></div><div>I'm actually amazed they found a Habs trade I hate more than the usual Matheson trades. That's impressive.</div></div>
Honestly looking at it again it is lop sided for Habs I thought Wild were closer to 16th pick. Still the logic remains that Wild have little cap spcae and not many D signed and would want a cheaper young option to stop gap the heavy buyout costs they have.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoofyFoFoofy</b></div><div>This trade does nothing for the Rangers.</div></div>
Gives Rangers cap space and a young solid D and a 2nd rounder that they can use to trade for more help next deadline. What would the Rangers want in a Kakko trade?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>If Baron was a skill player, a physical player or a decent stay at home type you'd have a point but Baron is none of those things. He and Harris will both be on waivers soon enough.</div></div>
I will say if they do get put on waivers 31 teams will be making a claim on them. Idk how often you watch them play but teams would be willing to pay for a 22 RHD with roughly 100 NHL games

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>That their justification for passing on Michkov to take Reinbacher?</div></div>
Not quite Habs have been drafting more based out skill plus attitude and I’m not a scout or anything but they have their reasons to not go for Michkov. Could be as simple as he didn’t want to play there so why waste a 5th on a player that won’t play for you

Would cost a lot more to get Barron. People acting like a 22 year old RHD is going for nothing? Habs would trade Savard, Harris and struble before Barron is on the move

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chuck54</b></div><div>I would take Laine with the habs tbh</div></div>
I would also take Laine but at that cost might be too much if there was a retention of 1 mill or the addition of a 3rd or taking off Armia it could work.

Montreal fans who says no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Why would the habs decline? They get the leafs 1st rounder and then they flip Marner at the TDL for another 1st rounder and 2 prospects. Marner double retention is only around 2.75M. So in the end they would give up Savard + 24 first rounder in exchange they get Tor 24-first rounder, 25-first rounder and 2 prospects.</div></div>
1) The first trade has 0 retention on Marner meaning Habs are taking full contract
2) If this trade happens Habs will have 0 retention slots avalible to trade Marner at 50%
3) Trading a 5th overal pick for a maybe flip for a 20th pick and a prospect is a bad look and Habs could end up in a similar situation to the NYI with Vanek when they did that move or Arizona when they tried it with Hall, it would be bad asset managment
Sadly if leafs trade Marner they will have to bank more on quantity than quality coming back.

The reason I added Dvorak is he is a vetern natural C that Columbus does't have outside of Boone Jenner. He has only 1 year left and could help play those hard defensive minutes allowing there young C to be more offensive threats.

That is true I maybe should have done retention on it? I just feel the age fits better with the Habs then trying to grab a UFA that are usually around 30 looking for a payout
