You bring in Hertl and give him an extension. Send Strome out for a Draft pick. (This would be a huge upgrade with how Strome is playing)

Next move would be to bring in some "Rentals" like a Pavelski and a Giordano. (they can technically bring in almost 32m worth of cap hit at the deadline)

Chicago won't sniff Laf in a deal for Kane. Kakko is possible if that money retained stays high, but it would be tough for the Rangers to afford him next year. That's why someone on the last year of their deal like Pavelski makes more sense.

That value is actually pretty spot on for that amount of salary retained, but it won't be Schnieder. It would be Lundkvist.

It's not a rental. They have 2.5 years of him. Makes Strome tradeable at the deadline as well. This would set them up well for affording some of their kids.
