I know I added him into a trade as value..but I would not be surprised if he ends up a bust. Maybe a long time NHL d-man but never a true top 4 never mind the top pair guy you want at 6.

How much value do you seriously think McGroarty has? I wouldn’t trade Jiricek straight up for him.

Jackets decline. You can say jiricek may bust out, but after the Calder cup playoffs he has progressed very well.


This trade is very far from something we would be interested in. There is no swap in a jiricek for Rutger to be had unless the jets are adding actual value back.

The problem is Rutger is still unproven in the pros. Jiricek has played and has flashed skill but some struggles. Right now the best Winnipeg is going to get for him is draft picks bc teams aren’t going to move proven players for an unknown.

You may not be surprised but everyone else would be. We’d have to add on Rutger to even get Jiricek. The rest of the trade is just cap dumps, and you think cap dumps would get Laine? We can offer a better package than this.

Not sure in what world Rutger warrants a package bigger than Gauthier. Nothing here ups the ante to pass that threshold - three expiring contracts for players we don’t need or even have space for.
