The Maple Laughs are one of the most mismanaged teams in terms of cap space and draft capital....just terrible job of managing both the last 6 years or so....and bottom 10 in the league with prospect pool? try bottom 5

i mean, i agree with you that they wont trade their.top prospect, but doesnt mean it has to be this way. Dallas didnt win a championship and kept their guy. Vegas traded all theirs and they won. Tampa traded multiple.first and they won. there in not only 1 way to do things.

Agree 100%; pretty hard to imagine why a GM would keep their 1st @ TDL but move it in off season. Of course if you could get a difference maker in the off season, maybe the 1st could be in play. But those players tend to stay on their teams or they are UFAs.
All of the trades involving Leafs 1st I saw were for meh players

The point was you make those types of trades at TDL, not in off season. Obviously - for right or for wrong - Tre didn’t see a player that he could obtain that was worth a 1st. If he kept it at TDL, he was going to the draft with it

Most of my Acgm created after the trade deadline up until now, had Leafs trading the 1st Rd pick for a 1st and 2nd.... Once I knew the Draft board, I just knew the Ducks were the team to make the trade with.
