The price to move up in the top 5 is very hefty. But if you can guarantee yourself to take Demidov you should do it.

True North wouldn't be interested in Mailloux and he doesn't have the value to return McGroarty.

I would do that trade from cbj if both Demidov and Lindstrom are available at 4. We get whichever Montreal passes on. Deal

If Demidov is available at 4OA, I don't think Columbus passes on him. We desperately need a player like that, too. If he was, and MTL is set on him, I think it costs more than this (like, swap which side the 3rd is on, swap Harris for Barron).

If it shakes down like that, I'd want CBJ to use the WPG 1st to grab McGroarty ourselves. Essentially from CBJ's perspective: Demidov for Lindstrom (or Silayev), McGroarty, Barron, and a 3rd. He looks to be so much better than next best player available, that's more in line with the cost to move up. Would be a trade while CBJ is on the clock.

My thought on the second pick too.
We get our 2c for the future at 5oa in Lindstrom then
Use the second first and our 36th to the jets for rutger.

The 26th overall plus a young top4D that is better than Provorov, Bean, Boqvist and Gudbransson is too much to move up 1 spot. The only reason that Barron holds value is because he's a righty. Harris is better. Jordan Harris has some of the best metrics in the NHL at his price point and age.

Puckpedia has the 26th pick as the price to move up to the 2nd slot from 5th overall and you said it yourself, no guarantee that Demidov is available at 4OA especially after the Bob McKenzie list which is gospel for these GMs to pool all the scouts.

This is Kent Hughes.

This deal will never happen. It's just throwing everything at the wall hoping Demidov is even available at 4. You'd be lucky to get Jordan Harris to move down 1 measly spot in a draft where the margins are so slim between picks 2-11. Its unheard of in most years to move up in the top5. It certainly wont be this year when the lists are all so dramatically different. Teams should be trying to trade into the top11-12 from the back of the draft, at best.

It aint happening. It never does. Certainly not for this price. You just saw last night how great defensive hockey can smoother the best player in the league (by a mile)

Guys like Buium, Dickinson, Silayev are pieces that are foundational. If someone wants to take an enigmatic Russian because of recency bias at a hockey camp in Florida. Go ahead. It aint worth giving away legit pieces like Harris and the 26th overall just to have 1 single piece in the ultimate team game not to mention ignoring those top pair D available. Offence can also start from the back end. If Buium ends up being Cale Makar lite you take that any day over a Kaprizov lite like Demidov while keeping your other assets to build your team out from the back end which Hughes has clearly identified with Guhle, Reinbacher and Hutson. Another big piece like that will set them up for years. You can flip Mailloux who's a big RHD with offence here for a legit top6 at the forward group. People are just in love with Demidov because he's a shiny new toy. You find these toys much more easily than a top pair D.
