If that trade was on the table, it would be done as soon as a contract was ironed out (in terms of general terms through an intermediary like Sweeney). You can keep Kastelic.

Wonder if the issue is the extension or Staios doesn’t want to pay this much

I would hope he doesn't want to pay that much. I keep seeing these deals and think, wow this isn't good for the Senators. But I guess you never know until the deals are made and games are played.

You have to think about it differently . It’s more so clearing Chychrun and his contract with pick 25 for Ullmark and then sign a RD in free agency to play with Chabot

I get what you're saying here, but in no way are we just "clearing Chychrun and his contract". He carries good value at $4.6mil for another year, and presumably with a team like Boston, interest in signing an extension. Imo Chychrun + ext is close to Ullmark + ext. 25oa is too much just to dump a year of Forsberg so I'd expect some value back in a depth piece like Lauko, maybe Bruins '26 2nd rounder since we don't have one and stand to lose our 1st from the Dadonov fumble.

I think this is fair:

Chychrun + 25oa + Forsberg for Ullmark + Lauko + '26 2nd

32 + 12 for 7 is close to fair value according to puckpedia but no team is trading down for fair value

Not really how this works.

If you're Staios, you shouldn't even begin to consider moving back from 7 to 12 for a single second whatsoever if you think it'll impact the level of player you're getting. No GM in their right mind would downgrade from a superstar prospect to a good but not great one for the cost of a late 1st and roster swap. Any team trading with them knows this.

The thought process from Ottawa here would be "we think we can get the same level of player at 12 as we can at 7, so lets get paid to make the jump". And sure, it should be worth something of value, but no other GM is going to fall for the ruse of "oh we're passing up on our ability to add a blue chip prospect here so you need to pay the moon and sun to trade up".

As for the value of the package? We can sit here all day and debate what Laughton's actual value should be, but the very plain matter of fact is Briere has put his price at a first round pick. Ottawa has been reported multiple times to want to move Joseph for cap purposes, and that's the only reason Philly would take him. So you're basically looking at Philly trading an actual first, a player they value at a 1st, and a contract they don't have any desire for to move up 5 spots. Yes, that is an overpay and not something Briere should or would consider

B. Congrats, you have the 7th pick in a weak draft, laddie ****ing da di, you can keep it

C. That offer is more than an over payment. There's not even any lube with that one.

Laughton is not good . No idea why ottawa has interest. His analytics are closer to Kubalik and he gets caved in.

7th in a Weak draft? Iginla , Dickinson or Parekh is a lot better than what you can get at 12

Parekh is regularly mocked past 12, and Berkley Catton + Konsta Helenius would have a word to say about that take

Helenius is mid af . Catton could make it to 12 but doubt he goes past 9. No way ottawa wants Helenius or Eiserman. Ottawa needs a top pair Dman

Forsberg’s inclusion at full freight removes the 2026 second. Without him, you should be able to add it back.

If you have followed this draft at all you would know that there is no real consensus among those guys, and the likes of Yakemchuk, Buium, Heleneius, Catton, Eiserman, and Sennecke is likely moving into that tier as well. It comes down to scouts preference and team needs. I will gladly sit back at 12 and choose from the 2 or 3 guys in that tier who fall. Also, if you have followed the NHL draft you would know how unpredictable it is so acting as if you know which guys in that tier go when borders on unmatched levels of hubris.

1) Helenius just had a top-5 draft year production season in Liiga while putting up high end defensive results and spending the whole year at Center. That just screams making a claim because it's biased towards your argument

2) Catton is more likely than not making it past 9, pretty much every single draft analyst working in the industry is expecting him to fall harder than he should come draft day (if Philly doesn't move for example, I honestly expect them to take Helenius over Catton)

3) There's a fairly good chance 1 of the big 6 D in this class is there at 12 regardless (including Parekh having a good shot. Ironically, my guess is that if Ottawa moves back it's because they believe he'll still be there at 12)

You are an absolute beaut aren't you. Moving the goal post and straw manning is all you can do.

Nobody wants to fleece Staois dummy. This conversation originated from one of your clown fans coming up with a trade proposals trying to fleece the Flyers and since myself and another Flyers fan called out what a horrible trade it is somehow that becomes us trying to fleece Staois. Thanks for the laugh.

As for the Flyers being "desperate" to move up. A report comes out that the Flyers want tomove up and that they and the Sens are talking and you straw man that into the Flyers being "desperate." I don't know whether to laugh at you or feel sorry for you.

Flyers accumulated all these picks to use them to trade up. Ottawa is not moving down 5 spots for just Laughton. 2 years of a player who gets generationally caved in and is a short term help or not even help , is horrible
