Hawks would make both those deals. Wings aren't trading #15 to move Maata and Holl. And the Devils don't trade down. They'd rather pick one quality player than 3 lesser players.

I mean sure, but why would the other teams do these deals?

I actually disagree, I think the Devils should take this if Catton is gone and they can't move 10oa for Saros or Swayman. 20 or 34 is much easier to move for a goalie than 10 since there are so few goalies worth 10. I'm a big fan of trading down in general.

My ideal target if he hopefully falls or even trade up would be Dickinson

Yeah, the value in the pick calculator isn't too far off, but this isn't a deep draft and I don't think I like anyone around 20 much. I feel one of the three guys I like at 10 will be there.

The Devils aren't a team that needs quantity. We can still move the WPG 2nd next year. I'd rather not move down to 20 and picking a dud just to use a 2nd to get a goalie.

I was thinking you then trade the 20th pick. Much easier to move those picks individually than to move the tenth pick

Wow! That surprises me. I can see the logic for sure though. I figured w/ the roster the Devils have, quality over quantity would be better. Hawks would definitely make that trade if the Devils are game.

I would be open to it. Like breaking a fifty for two twenties and a ten. Maybe be able to flip the smaller denominations for needed pieces.

(Or Vlasic for #10 works too)

Our core is mostly set (minus the goalie). We could use another dman…maybe 3C..some depth pieces. None of those require top-10 pick. And we have multiple holes.

I feel the only goalies worth 1sts are also the ones that can't extend until after the draft, so it's a catch 22.

I'll always take quantity over quality outside of like, lottery picks. I'd rather have two guys that are 25% to be something than one guy who's 50%. You still end up with someone half the time, but with the two guys you have a chance to have two players that are something.

In this scenario, though, the Devils would almost certainly flip the 20th pick

2 guys that are 25% only gives you a 43.75% chance of having something

Because the Devils need more midget forwards in their core lol.
