Sign & trade can't have a 2024 pick. Marner can't sign until after the draft. How about a 2025 pick?

I still wouldn’t do it, Marner is great but Habs want players who are harder to play against when it counts

Everyone used to say that about Panarin in the playoffs. For years. How he couldn't get it done. How he was too soft. Then low and behold, the Rangers ice a balanced team (something the Leafs have never done) and Panarin is a superstar playoff hero.

Everyone criticizes smaller players when things are going badly. Think back, what did you say/think about Panarin 2 years ago?

Kind of a huge overpay for Crouse.
Yes, I agree, St Louis would get the best out of Marner. No on that trade.
I assume the Pitt trade is more about moving Timmins than acquiring anything. No issue with moving Timmins, I don't see him with a future in TO.

St Louis is 5 foot nothing. If he can't get the best out of Marner than no one can.
This would be a total steal by Montreal, give up two average D men and a player who does not make the NHL until 2030 for one of the best RWs in the game.
Leafs say no to this deal.

Not saying the value isn't great, just dont think Hughes and company are looking for a player who doesn't have a physical edge to his game, especially in the playoffs, maybe they do and I am way off base here. The issue IMO is though we have Caufield, Gallagher, RHP, Armia, Suzuki, Newhook and Roy who are all either 6'0" or under or don't play a physical game. Adding Marner to the group makes 8 of your 12 forwards smaller or not physical enough, come playoff time that is gonna really hurt the team. Now as I said before Marner is a great player and maybe there is a way to fit him in the lineup and still add physicality by supplimenting someone like F. Xhekaj for RHP or perhaps MSL does bring out a more physical edge to Marner.

Edit*** I guess you could also offset his lack of physicality by playing him with Anderson and Dach. I guess I was underestimating the potential ways to mitigate that, my bad lol

Some of u guys don’t get it LOL!!! Why on planet earth would the leafs trade Marner to a team in the same division and to their BIGGEST RIVAL!!!! It will be so dumb on the leafs part. Also that return for Marner is bad.

Habs pass.

Kent Hughes has stated that the Habs want character.
Marner has no character, whines, soft, invisible in playoffs, and overpaid.
