What's up with that Reaves trade? Do you actually think TOR could get positive value for him? I guess I wouldn't be surprised if some tame gave up a late round pick for him, but it definitely won't be CHI.

He's a rental. I think you'll get something decent for him, the Sabres won't be trading Levi, tuch, and a first for him though. The Sabres are fine with small soft wingers, granted marner is better than them, they also aren't due 12m or so long term. Gonna have to pick a different team unless you want Skinner back as the return.

If Sabres want to target Marner, it would have to be via 2025 UFA.
Only way Leafs are going to get rid of Reaves, its via retirement

I could see a team like Chicago wanting to surround its younger players with veterans with a lot of experience like Reaves while also trying to hit the cap floor. May be the only thing Reaves is good for nowadays.

I may be overvaluing him slightly as I kind of forgot he was a rental but I can see the Sabres utilizing Levi in a trade since Uka pekka is seeming to finally pan out. Tuch while being a great player won't ever get to be near 100 points and that's not even mentioning the fact that Tuch has never played a full 82 game season in his career. A first and a goalie you may no longer need seems like a decent trade to upgrade Tuch to Marner. While Marner does suck come playoff time he may be enough to get Buffalo to make a push in the atlantic.

Tuch is a player that wants to be here. He provides leadership, size, physicality, and a two way game. We actually need more players like him. On paper, I agree, marner is so talented, but the big picture looks different if you're the Sabres.

If Chicago is going to bring in veterans, they're going to be veterans that can actually play. Plus, getting to the cap floor is about the easiest problem to fix. They don't need to throw away picks or bring in washed up bums to do it.

Oh, ok. Well, CHI isn't going to pay for him, though. He would barely help us to the cap floor. Also, according to GM Kyle Davidson's exit interview, he is looking to make actual improvements to the team next year. I think, at most, Reaves gets bought out, and, at least, spends most of the season as a healthy scratch.
