Montreal already have 2 salary retain (max 3) and they probably save the other one for the trade deadline or for moving anderson if possible

Lee is overpaid by at least $2.5m/year. Eller is fair value. The difference in the 2nd and 1st isn't that substantial. That's a very poor trade for PIT.

Not sure I see the logic for the Habs. The biggest need for the Habs is to reduce the number of roster players, not add to it. Distill the quantity into quality. Pageau is an upgrade on Dvorak for sure but is also more expensive, signed longer, and requires a retention slot from the Habs on Dvorak to get it done. All this just to distill Wahlstrom and a 2nd from a 3rd and a 5th? Wahlstrom has waiver potential and holds little value at the moment.

I think there is a deal to be made involving Pageau to the Habs but this to me doesn't do it.

Retain on Lee and the penguins are probably interested.
