I might be one of the biggest "Philly should target Zegras hard" supporters out there, but I really think moving the 2024 Philly 1st is a bad idea with where the org is at right now

Replace Brink and Farabee with Tyson Foerster and you would have a deal IF Trevor Zegras were on the market, which he isn't and won't be unless we land one of Macklin Celebrini or Artyom Levshunov in the draft.

Yeah, I know your fans don't want Laughton. But given the exit interviews of the Sabres begging for accountability, I think Berube is coming your way, and I think Laughton is the perfect player for the Sabres to help foster that accountability. I think it's a move your org makes if they go that route, and it seems like its going that way.

You can have accountability in a locker room without adding players that aren't good on the ice.

I really don't see how Philly acquires Zegras without Anaheim getting Foerster. Brink won't hold up to Ducks hockey.

Question for both of you, if Minnesota wanted Zegras would you expect them to be giving up Faber as part of the return?

I’m split. As long as they keep Tyson but trade the 2024 1st I’m good with it. They can’t give up both in the deal or it’s pointless because then u have no top talent for Zegras to even play with.

Lmao yeah and everyone acts like Laughton can’t play which is comical. Back to back 40 point seasons as a 3C/3LW, helped lead a top 5 penalty kill, and turned the culture of a whole team around as a leader. It’s not like Buffalo couldn’t use the help. They have sucked for 2 decades lol it can’t get worse.

People only listen to others on this site and do no research. People on this site think Laughton isn’t even an NHL player meanwhile Krebs who is currently worse than Laughton has a bright future lol.

Or Boldy, but yes, nothing else on their roster is sufficiently enticing to consider letting Zegras go for, which is the ultimate crux of the problem, the trade has to have a single piece of high enough value to consider as the starting point. Maybe there's a deal to be worked out around Tippett instead of Foerster, but the add would be larger on him.

He's under contract, we hold his RFA rights after that, the only way we move him is if the offer is sufficiently enticing.

Okay was just trying to gauge what ur ask was in general as opposed to ur ask for the flyers specifically. Appreciate it.

In general, player of similar age, right shot, top 6/4 showing with potential to be top pair/line material. Minor parts to balance as needed after that.

Wildly over exaggerating what ppl think on this site is just stupid & confirms the lack of credibility to your nonsense
Great work, as usual

As yes, Krebs does have higher upside than a 3rd liner

Sabres fan here
I think you both have good points here

And while i wouldn’t make the trade,
I’d say that it is a possibility in real life
Especially if we get Berube

Absolutely not, both because Faber is a local boy and the way that the Wild got him (for Kevin Fiala). Also, although I'm an admitted fan of Trevor Zegras, I actually believe that Faber has a higher upside, inasmuch as he's a contender (although distant second) for the Calder Trophy and I expect him to be mentioned in Norris Trophy talks in the future. Both he and Matt Boldy are too much for Zegras, but we'd be asking for a very high-quality player as well as a first-round draft pick for Zegras IF he were on the market, which I am convinced he is not.

Interesting, obviously my flyers bias is involved, but I believe Foerster should be much more in the conversation of top 3 to top 4 in the Calder race than many people give him credit for. Almost the same goals as Bedard, a handful of assists, and Selke level defensive stats. To me if Faber is untouchable someone like Foerster is also.

Nope. I think that the only elite talent at the top of this draft pool is Celebrini (super-elite) and Levshunov and Buium (who's a LD but I'm told can play on the right). To me, kids like Lindstrom, Catton, Demidov and Helenius are high quality but have the same ceiling as Zegras. The first three are potential Trophy winners.

I don’t disagree, I was more not understanding why Levshunov getting drafted would make Zegras expendable. Lindstrom I get since he’d likely compete for top 6 LW

Here's my thought process (and you may think that I'm completely cuckoo):

With the elite Levshunov in the fold, any further defense development can come in the general course (internally, through free agency, using later draft picks, etc.), and we could exchange Zegras for what we hope will be a couple of lesser-quality but still top-6 forwards (Beck/Mesar, Catton/Helenius/Lindstrom). But without a home run with our own pick, the risk of giving Zegras up and not getting equivalent value is simply too high.
