Sammy is the worst starting goalie in the league, and in fact ranked behind several backup goalies. While he is certainly part of the blame, so is the defense in front of him. Same problem for the last 8 years in Toronto

I won't argue that currently, but goaltending and defense have been the most consistent issues for 8 years now with no end in sight.

I agree 100%. Realistically should’ve been fired after the last two playoff appearances, only reason he kept his job for this season is because “Oh wow Toronto finally made it past round 1”. How is it this man has all this talent but can never actually do anything with it come playoff time? They definitely need to go find a new coach for next season

A lot of the goals against issues on this team are system issues. The same thing hurts the team over and over and over and Keefe never changes anything. The goaltending with Sammy is obviously not good, woll has a lot of potential but Keefe ruins guys he doesn't trust and for whatever reason he picks his guys and they can do no wrong. Jarnkrok has played 1 game in the past 2-3 months, better make him a key player in game 1. Sammy wasn't even an NHLer for the first half of the season, he's the starter and he'll get another 2 games to prove Keefe wrong. The PP gets too predictable, better do the same thing we always do. When they play their puck possession, pinch all the time system in the playoffs and the opposition just traps them and get quick strike offence the other way, do the same thing until they lose. Yup, he should have been fired after Florida. Getting past Tampa was luck, and then Florida just knew what TO would do, pressure them on breakouts and at the offensive blueline and you can get quick strike offence. They should have turned into a dump and chase team vs Florida. Make them defend deep in their zone and they would have best Florida 2-0 or 2-1 each game but instead Keefe saw the shot share and said "we deserved a better result". No you didn't, Florida took what you gave them and you didn't take that one thing away. Keefe sucks so bad. So does Treliving though, he made the team worse, kept the same coach and I have no faith he will do anything but add brand name overrated FA's and make the team older and slower.

They are always pinching trying to play possession in the o zone, but against heavy defensive teams it doesn't work. Hence my comment about Reilly in the other thread. This has gone on before Keefe as well.

Rielly rarely makes a bad pinch. It's the other plugs, Edmunson was the reason there was a 2 on 1 for the first goal. He had no business pinching at that moment. Benoit gets caught pinching, same with Brodie, Gio, McCabe at times. Liljegren every once and a while but it's just how they are coached. It's a system thing, pinch all the time keep the puck in the zone. It doesn't work in the playoffs Keefe. Schenn did well last year because he never pinched unless it was a for sure thing.
