Tampa Bay declines. They can come up with much better ways to spend $6m than giving it to Laine.

Why on earth is Anaheim the one adding a pick to the better goalie?

Actually this makes a lot of sense. The Lightning need to replace Stamkos. Laine when healthy can more than do that. At a discount price it would be too enticing for TB who wants to keep their window open.

Bc statistically speaking, both have been very similar goaltenders here recently. Gibson cost more so the likely scenario would be Anaheim adding a pick. But the Jackets could add a pick to help even it out.

What’s the better alternative that keeps TB from decline?

The better question is why either team would do it. It makes sense for CBJ, Elvis asked for a trade, doesn't apply to Gibson.

Why does TB "need to replace Stamkos"?
Last time he literally signed 2 days prior to UFA and accepted the offer that was given in November. Did he say I'm done here ? No actually quite the opposite. After making the "I'm disappointed" comment the next sentence literally he said I'm ready to sign tomorrow.

Not taking on a guy whose lazy and has quit on teams. Resigning Duclair bringing up younger kids (Chaffee, Gonclaves, Gauthier,) resigning Stamkos

Last I checked, Stammer was still a member of the Lightning. And if JBB can figure out a way to pay Stammer the same $6m Laine will cost, Stammer probably stays in Tampa. As for Laine, he hasn't been healthy for a full season in 4 years. So that's a pretty BIG IF. Even if Stammer does leave, Tampa is probably better served spending that $6m on a less expensive forward and finding some help on their blue line.

Stamkos is 34. Unless he is willing to take 5 mil per yr then TB is going to have a heck of a time trying to fit him in. Plus, you run the risk of decline. For TB, signing Stamkos would be quite the gamble. If he does decline it effectively stops them from being able to compete in a growingly competitive division. The idea for any team to stay competitive is to try to get younger by making moves that benefit the team. TB knows they aren’t signing Stamkos back or otherwise he would already.

So in the last 3 seasons Stamkos has missed (including playoffs 4 games 3 due to illness 1 because his wife was giving birth. During that same period Laine has missed 117 but Stamkos is the risk? Pull your head out of your rectum Laine doesn't get 1/4 that return I wouldn't give you Howard for him straight up.

No. That is not what I am saying. I am saying there is a risk of it. You may not like Laine but he does fit stylistically for what TB needs.

He's lazy, and he lacks the most important ability any athlete can have availability. Even Wayne Gretzky in his prime is useless if he isn't on the ice Laine also doesn't seem real coachable . One of the few players TB should consider less than Laine is Princess-Lucy Dubios both really talented guys who are lazy quitters.

Hockey fans are weird. When did going through concussion recovery because of an after regulation time cheap shot, a broken clavicle and now in the player assistance program (which requires league intervention) is being a "lazy quitter". If you don't like the guy that's one thing but look at his injury history before you start attacking someone. Most of these are not soft tissue injuries which are preventable.

Because Dan the Man apparently has Laine and PLD confused.
