Value is probably fine but Friedman saying that he thinks the Necas and the Canes are done holds as much weight to me as when he said that the Canes were trading Pesce this summer - it's his speculation. Does he get info from agents/FOs, yes. Could Necas still be moved, yes. Is this what makes the Canes move him, probably not.

hard to see MTL moving a 22 year old defenseman for that. It barely cost them anything to stick with that guy. They will see what happens.

Habs easily pass on all 3 trades. Necas isnt getting 2 1sts + Beck, it's gonna be like a 1st in the 5-10 range and a 2nd or 3rd and Canes fans are gonna all cry

Typically with Necas I tend to think, "what would I want to move Nick Suzuki" and then I just stop myself from posting Necas trades.

Necas doesn't have Suzuki's value, I would be hard pressed to say he has Zegras' value since Zegras has consistently been a 60 point player and Necas has 1 70 point season and the rest are at less than 55 points. If Necas has Suzuki's value then Zegras has Draisaitl's and Suzuki has McDavid, how does any of that make sense? Zegras and Necas are both terrible defensively, both are big top 6 forwards who's fanbases see them as centers, Zegras is younger, more consistent, puts up more points generally, has a better contract situation and won't be going to Arbitration looking for a 1 year 7+ mil deal so he can head to FA and get a much larger contract. Hell even Zegras' ceiling is higher than Necas and Necas has been in the league longer

If it's a first in the 5-10 range that's fine... the Hurricanes do great at drafting when at significantly worse positions... just imagine what they'd do with a premium selection spot

You are actually the first Canes fan I have seen that doesn't expect Suzuki or Caufield + the Habs 1st, Kudos to you
