NYR isn't trading Laffy. Panarin became 20 + points per year better after playing with Laffy.

They don't and this is the dumbest one for one trade scenario that is out there. There is no guarantee either will thrive on new team. But to your point mainly MTL fans brings this up. So there is that argument too...

Comparing player at the same age, Slafkowsky is far ahead.
You can keep whining all you want, chance are Slafkowsky will turn out a better player then Lafrenière in a short future. In fact Slafkowsky have been one of the best forward in the league in the second half of the season.

One is a top line player at 20, the other just became one at 22. Add that Slaf is bigger, stronger and just as skilled and it's pretty easy to say that the Rangers would have to add

Let's compare roles and toi at the same age. Slaf is playing top line because Montreal is a dumpster and laf was on the third line because the ranger already had top 6 players when we got him. He wasn't passing bread or kreider on the left side and had to adapt to the right.

You don't see any Ranger fans posting Laffy trades to the Habs but there are plenty of Hab fans posting them, like this one. Wonder why that is?

That the whole point Slaf can occupy this role at 19 something Lafreniere wasn’t able to do. Slafkowsky isn’t their by default he have earn is spot. Last 38 games he have 34 points, 66 hits, 30 bs. Those number puts him in the top 50 in the league and top 40 forward. Lafreniere have been playing great, but he was far from the player he is today at the same age. If Slafkowsky continues is progression at 22 he will be a ppg power forward.

Because some people (very small minority now) are still obsessed with the "French connection" for the Habs..... it's really nothing more than that.

Slafkovsky is literally trending (and Slaf also said it himself to be modeling his game after) to be like Rantanen. There is zero chance MTL moves him. But I'm sure NYR have their own reason why Lafreniere is also 100% off the table.

So this is a pointless exercise, both team obviously have zero interest in this.

Who on the habs did slaf beat out to "earn" that spot??? Gallagher and anderson who have both been horrible??? Nah he got that spot because he was the best available option the habs had not because he "earned" it.

Okay, if that's the case, it's not but let's say it is. He's still out performing Laf while playing the same top line minutes. It's also funny because you would actually think it makes it harder for Slaf on a crap team because teams only have one line to focus their best defensive players against.

All in all, our player is younger, playing better and has a higher ceiling. Ranger add for all those reasons

It was Newhook he beat out (who's actually been really solid), and let's not forget Monahan. Both Newhook and Monahan rotated LW/C the first half of the season. Also, Slaf wasn't on PP1 either. At first it was:

Caufield - Monahan - Newhook
Matheson - Suzuki

So yes... Slaf had to earn his spot. Coach Marty St.Louis literally said in a recent interview and corrected a reporter that Slaf didn't end up on the 1st line by happenstance, he earned it by rounding out his defensive game.

I mean you're right on the younger part but that's it... and don't pull out the oh he's got more blah blah is the past 12 games bull... all you hab fans do to justify you players being better is pick and choose stats for a certain number of games to benefit your narrative. Look at the whole season and laf is better and next season laf will be better. Also how about how slaf is pp1 and laf is pp2 which gets maybe 15 seconds a pp. And before you say he should be better to get pp1 who's he going to overtake on the 4th best pp I'm the league???

Because Marty literally has said the opposite for other players... He said it for Struble, who happened to get an opportunity because of Xhekaj's injury, he said it for Newhook playing C because Dvorak was injured and Monahan was traded.... I could keep going...

Right now you're either trolling, or just clueless. Please stop.

No dead serious. Look at this season laf is better than slaf... idc about age. Laf earned his way up through a playoff team while slaf is doing well on a bad team with not a lot of options.

I never said Slaflovsky was better than Laferniere...you're confusing me with someone else in this thread perhaps...

and I could use the same crappy argument you're using for Slaf (there not being that many options) for Lafreniere... Rangers aren't deep at RW...Kakko has been poo poo, and who else is there? Roslovic and Vesey lol.. doesn't seem like Laf has earned much and just benefited from the circumstance that he's not better than Kreider or Panarin at LW and there's nothing significant at RW.....

So Slaf having a better second half of an entire season doesn't matter, Slaf having a better 20 yr old season doesn't matter and Slaf being younger doesn't matter. It's not like I'm out here saying he's ridiculously better or anything, literally just pointing out that right now Slaf projects to be there better player.

Slaf is looking like he can be the next Rantanen, Laf looking like he can turn into a Nylander. Both great players, but not equal players

So what you're saying is a portion of Hab fans on this site are so stupid that they want to trade for a player just because he is French?
