I wouldn’t do the Couturier trade either, but let’s not use the healthy scratch as an excuse not to do it. If we were in a playoff race and Anderson was playing like this, he’d have been a healthy scratch plenty of times by now.
We fire Martin St Louis did we?
Change 1 Day 1 he stated the importance of Anderson to him in terms of basically being the top 6's Rodeo Clown calling him a strong Deterrent.
We used Lehkonen wrong who under Michel Therrien was the offensive player he was oversea's.
Then Claude Julien comes in basically condemning the whole team top to bottom outside Danault, Lehkonen and Gallagher.
Lehkonen becomes a Defensive player from that moment on until Martin St Louis arrives and he goes on a tear that ended with 9 points in 9 games to end his Habs career.
Anderson will be fine when MSL lets him go back to being a player instead of a Deterrent which can be accomplished by Hughes adding someone who handles that role like Mantha next summer.
Let Anderson start focusing on Anderson again then i think he gets out of his own way. But pulling him in 2-3 directions is bound to have a negative impact.
I LOVE Couturier as like Jake he still lives in our Province , gives back a LOT and is a HUGE supporter of Youth Hockey here where really only 2-3 NHL players are total.
BUT that Contracts too much ,its worse then Hayes and how did that work out ?
Anderson i could move for a Profit now by exploiting the System but for Couturier i couldnt do the same without taking back a really big contract.
He's in the Huberdeau or Skinner zone where despite being NHL players of value their Contract makes them beyond untouchable to any teams due to their Contract Control.
The teams that would be willing to take them arent of any interest to them
