I think we'd just bring back Chatfield to play a top-4 role instead of spending the assets and cap space for Liljegren

Good return for Struble. But, I just don't understand the plan with him, especially since Xhekaj bounced back recently.

Liljgren yes. He's everything they would look for. Struble doesn't make as much sense. He's struggling everywhere, and there's no reason for the Canes and Habs to make that kind of deal

Habs would be interested in Suzuki for sure for obvious reasons but not for Struble. Suzuki isn't a slam dunk NHL'er. Struble is. There's no need to level it with picks. The players involved don't make sense IMO.

I would see Suzuki more a fit for an Emil Heineman or a Riley Kidney 1v1.

If the Habs move Struble, it will be for an equally young current NHL'er type forward OR as part of a package in a bigger deal.

Unless there's a major shakeup in D in Toronto, you gotta think Liljegren is kept if only for the handedness. He's also averaging 22 mins a night, I don't think they move him for picks. If he's moved, it'll probably be to land a better RD.

Robertson also has more goals in 27 fewer games than Drury - I think they'd prefer to keep Robertson as a one-dimensional scoring threat on a third line while he's an RFA.

You're not offering anything of value to montreal, and unfortunately while he carries the suzuki name montreal have too many players in the AHL currently better than him, so why would we trade a NHL player for a middle 6 AHL player

Oh and suzuki won't be waivers except next season

I like the 1 for 1 Kidney idea. I want R Suz and that does seem to be fair imo.

And what part of is game he is struggling? He has been pretty steady in a 6th defenseman role. Not sure where you get that from.

Right... he's got as many PIMS as games, nothing in terms of counting stats, and an xGA/60 of almost 3... he's struggled at the NHL level. A xGF% of 43 is ROUGH. He's very much struggling

Part of a bigger package I agree, but I don't see 1 for 1 prospect swap deals (of Struble's caliber) as a good solution anymore. MTL has plenty of forwards of similar caliber or value in their system. No point adding another until we know what MTL has with their current forward prospect pool. As long as he's waiver's exempt, might as well keep him as the perfect backup in case Xhekaj, Hutson, essentially any D projected above him if the depth chart doesn't pan out or gets injured.
Once he's no longer waivers exempt, I think it's a different story. And this is what is happening with Barron. He won't be waivers exempt next season so there is more urgency to decide to keep him or move him to not lose value.

So you didn’t watch any of is game but with the stats you made your mind. Classic cap friendly. Struble have played good hockey for a really bad team.

I'm sorry, you're really trying to say an overwhelmed fringe NHLer this year has been good? He's been bad with the eye test, he's been bad statistically, he's been bad. Come on. If you cannot admit that players on a rebuilding team have been bad, you know you're struggling with bias

A rookie defenseman who have been put in numerous difficult situation who have been playing good hockey despite playing on a very bad team. You didn’t watch any of Struble game because you would have notice him. He isn’t flashy but he is efficient. You can continue with your advanced stats all you want, if you can’t put them in context they aren’t very useful. Watch some fk hockey game and stop analyzing the player through stats sheet. What a lousy way to analyze a players. Deangelo is the best example. Is stats a great but he is a terrible defender. Didn’t need analytics to understand that. I watch hockey, a lot of hockey. You watch a lots of advanced stats . Thats great

No, DeAngelo's defensive analytics are awful, but he is an offensive dynamo, and those reflect that. Struble doesn't have that. He's not good in any zone. Yes, you can say he's a rookie so he's going to improve, but he's been bad. If you cannot admit that, you are in deep denial
