NJD trade is disastrous for PIT. Sullivan would bench Mercer in about a week. So he would be Kessel/Sprong/Kapanen 4.0. Palat is an atrocious contract that will likely cost ownership millions in a buy out. His full NMC likely blocks this trade anyway, but the value PIT is getting here is atrocious. Just trade Jarry and Pettersson for futures.

I would be okay if the term was cut in half or there was a decent amount of retention. The buyout isn't ridiculous for the last few years of it came to it but it's still not ideal. I like the player, don't like the contract.
