I dont think the problem is a logjam at LD as much as it is chabot and chychrun cant be on the same team because they have the same flaw

I'd probably do that swap if Ottawa was also actually getting Karlsson. Chabby would also need to go, which is way too extreme to be realistic, but a top 4 of Sanderson-Zub Pelech-Karlsson would be extremely good. Very well balanced

Chatfield's the 3RD, and has 20 points and has been on the best analytical defensive pairing in the NHL. He gets entirely carried by his defense partner (because Orlov on the third pair in uncanny) but he's not the 7D

As for the Canes trade, you're light. Missing a 4th, and then Carolina might do it. Brannstrom's not exactly got much value right now where Fast is a proven playoff performer and a key piece on one of the best defensive lines in the league

He'll get about that, especially from a Canadian market if he's really wanted. He's not good, but he's the prime candidate for an overpayment. Team doesn't pay so much attention and sees decent stats, goes somewhere for a lot of money and implodes. My bet was it would be Treliving making that mistake though

Pesce has been fairly mid the last 2 years, an okay #4 . I don’t think he’s gonna be getting better , only down from here and someone will pay him more than Weegar

Pesce's been very good, he and Skjei have been one of the most dominant defense pairings in the NHL. Not a coincidence that suddenly Skjei discovers offense next to Pesce when he couldn't do with with guys like Girardi in New York.

Trouba's going to have all of Canada on his M-NTC, and Pesce still isn't likely to listen to offers from north of the border after shooting one down from the Sabres.
