Didn't Krug explicitly say last summer that he wouldn't waive his NTC unless it was for hometown Detroit?

Buffalo does not need retention.

Unless buchnevich signs a nice extension I can't see us having any interest whatsoever

Still seems a bit rich for a guy who will be exiting his prime before we become contenders (if we ever do)

I’ve never seen that in any article. He didn’t want to go to Philly because he thought it was a rebuild. LA is not.

Your team has the best prospect pool in league. I would bet for you to make playoffs next year at minimum.

Maybe. Krebs doesn’t have much. You can take him and Hayes out if want.

So sabres can give up good assets for a 29 year old rental at a position they don't need?

Savoie wouldn't be going without an extension. Rental players, rental prices. Reasonably speaking, it's easy for teams fans to say "well you can always re-sign him", but it's not that simple. Buchnevich is a Russian born and raised hockey player, Buffalo has made some decent strides to fix their reputation as a clown show organization- the locker room is no longer a toxic mess, and the roster is brimming with first round talent- but buffalo does not have the allure of many other cities. If you were an American hockey player going to the khl, would you wanna play in Moscow or st Petersburg, or the 50th biggest city in Russia with a very small/no American community? Trying to be reasonable here, there's no way I'm just assuming that if we trade for him, that he agrees to sign a reasonable extension just because we overpaid when we traded for him.

And he got a full NTC for a reason and that reason might very well be he will refuse to waive for any team.

And neither do you. Are you claiming you know for sure he would waive? Again, he likely left money on the negotiating table to get the NTC. He is probably going to be very selective on if and where he will waive for. Ullmark just blocked a trade to LAK at the deadline.

No I don’t know. This is Capfriendly - not real life. You originally stated that Krug would only waive for Detroit, and I have never seen that written anywhere.

i dont want PLD, another overpaid underperformer, one that gets traded out of every team he touches because he has no drive to win. is this who we want playing with our top prospects?

For ONE year- ABSOLUTELY NOT
And the problem with saying he comes with an extension is that he’s gonna want HUGE $$ and long term
We didn’t even wanna give Mittelstadt 7x7 that he was looking for- and even though Buchnevich is better, he’s gonna cost almost double that (I’m guessing)

I just don’t know that the Sabres are ready to do a move like that. We’d probably have to get rid of Skinner to make it work

My guess is Buch will get $8m x 6. Not double that but not cheap. Understood.

Ik but having watched his games on tv a lot and in person, he has also been very unlucky

He makes good plays and it’s just not working, if I’m LA I’d rather take a chance on PLD over Krug or just trade PLD for picks

I don’t think there is a team taking his contract for free in the nhl right now, but maybe I’m wrong.

$8mil per is pretty reasonable imo
But i don’t think the Sabres wanna add a big Cap hit like that
Not unless (like i said), we were to move on from Skinner in some way (which could be tough)

Remember when everyone said that Bobrovsky was washed and that Florida should just pay whatever was necessary (to the tune of multiple 1st round picks) to dump his contract? Good thing they didn't.

The Kings aren't going to give up on the PLD experiment after one season. They're going to keep him for the first 4-5 years of his deal (until his NMC becomes a mNTC) to see if they can make it work. If they can't, then they'll explore moving him then.

Krug’s been fairly decent the last little bit, Kessel makes him look good and he’s close to matching his Blues career high. Leddy and Faulk would be ideal to ship out. No need for that horrible PLD contract on our hands. Binner and others were upset by Vrana’s effort vs CBJ, Dubois is 10x lazier.
